New Member, Long Time Lurker in North Carolina

What was I doing in 1998? We were shooting each other with slingshots in the ruins of a train repair yard. If I was smoking a pipe back then it probably didn't have tobacco in it! Didn't have any nice pipes back then but I had a pretty nice BMX. Hello from way up north, and cheers.

So, I've Been Using Lambs Navy Rum to Clean...

They'd be worse impressed if you eschewed Navy for White. Hell, I'm a bit worried if you drink white rum and up until a few hours ago we were perfect strangers!

    Sips & Fits

I'm glad I could provide clarity! Now to cloud the issue again with another bowl of that tasty Burley...

    Sips & Fits

My apologies to everyone who had to read this post and subsequent replies. Como Estes amigos. I smoked entirely too much Burley last night and this is the proof. I wanted us Pipers to have a Fish n Chips acronym like those dapper chaps in the British Expeditionary Force and now we do. In...

Smoking In Public Spaces & Feigning Ignorance To Smell. And/or The two most important things about a pipe. How it sips the tobacco and how it fits in the hand.

So, I've Been Using Lambs Navy Rum to Clean...

EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9) And I can't find anything wrong with this as my own person. I know literature suggests high proof grain alcohol but the only grain alcohol I could ever stomach to buy - let alone drink! is Jamesons and that just seems a waste to pour into a cap...

That Last Little Bit In The Bowl

I think this is a simple matter. If it smokes, let it. It if won't smoke, dump it. If you want that nice white ash in the bottom of the bowl to break in a pipe, only smoke a tiny pinch; not a quarter or a half bowl - you'll only end up with wet dottle! Of course, the drier the better for...

***What Are You Smoking, November 2020?***

I'll chime in even though I'm a rookie. Today I got a pouch of Sutliff Kentucky Burley, which I think will be a daily smoke. For a treat I've got some MB Latakia flake, and for something different now and then some Mr. Bs English Mix. Mind you, since I'm new to this I've actually only just...

Show Me Your Favorite Tobacco Knife!

I was cleaning out the crawlspace in a new house once and I found one of these knives, in considerably more "used" condition, along with a walking cane with a carved eagle head. I had some interesting theories about the previous tenant! Ended up donating the knife to the local military...

    Show Off your Pipe Collection

A Brigham basket Billiard (first real pipe), nameless Bent Bulldog just picked up today, and my baby; a Brigham 316.

And my Brigham Mountaineer 316... This is a damn fine pipe and I'm going smoke it for a damn long time.

    Help With Vulcanite Stem

My 3 dot Brigham came pre-oxidized on the top of the stem. I went with the hot soapy water soak and then I scrubbed it with toothpaste for about a month. Once I got sick of that I remembered I had some extra fine steel wool, so I used that and the toothpaste and it came off fine. There's...

    Show Off Your Bulldogs/Rhodesians

Just picked this little pup out of the basket today! Pictured here with a half bowl of Kentucky Burley burning away in the chamber. This one is a Bullmoose or Bent Bulldog correct?

    Brigham Pipes

Not counting my first pipe, which was a gas station weed-burner that I was too ill-informed to spot, my first real pipe was/is a Brigham Capri basket pipe. Straight billiard with a smooth finish. The airway was a tad bit tight so I reamed out the stem a touch and now it's probably my favorite...

    Another Reformed Cigarette Puffer.

Hello, Well after some deliberation I've decided to join the ranks of the smokey and distinguished. I've been at it about a month now so here is what you're all wanting to know. What I'm smoking! I started with a mall shop tobacconist who I won't be going back to. Word to the wise, always...
