  1. Ora Pro Nobis

    Cornell & Diehl Haunted Bookshop

So far this is me. I've only had a couple of bowls, but it has thus far been underwhelming. I will keep smoking it. I am curious about it.
  2. Ora Pro Nobis

    Mac Baren's HH Burley Flake

Please don't get me wrong. It's a quality blend, and the taste is great, but I prefer other blends.
  3. Ora Pro Nobis

    Mac Baren's HH Burley Flake

Well, I've finally had enough bowls that I feel confident in reviewing this blend. For anyone not familiar with this blend, here is the description commonly found: "A simple classic, Mac Baren's HH Burley Flake uses ripe Virginias and a touch of Dark-Fired Kentucky to complement its Burley...
  4. Ora Pro Nobis

    Savinelli Jupiter; Consistency Matters

I guess it could, but my diet is rather routine. I'll write down my last meal after the next good bowl, and then I'll recreate it and see what transpires.
  5. Ora Pro Nobis

    Savinelli Jupiter; Consistency Matters

AGAIN! Morning smoke was meh, hence the review. Same pipe, same process...and this afternoon smoke was awesome.
  6. Ora Pro Nobis

    Savinelli Jupiter; Consistency Matters

I've been doing all the "right steps" you've suggested. This is a head scratcher.
  7. Ora Pro Nobis

    Savinelli Jupiter; Consistency Matters

Maybe it's me, or maybe it's the Savinelli Roma I'm smoking it in, but I just can't get a consistently satisfying bowl out of Savinelli's Jupiter. As part of Savinelli's God's line of blends, I am aware that many, even perhaps many here, are fans of this blend. I can see why....sometimes. On...

Home and Hearth Slow-Aged First Snow Review

Well, I just ordered some H&H Flake and Jupiter. When they come in, I'll try them out and see boys.
  9. Ora Pro Nobis

    C&D Autumn Evening

Well, I ended up ordering H&H Flake and Savinelli's Jupiter.
  10. Ora Pro Nobis

Blends Similar to Slow-Aged First Snow?

War Horse Bar and WH Green also seem similar, but I wonder how much stronger they are. The descriptions seem to present these as blends for "experienced" smokers.

Blends Similar to Slow-Aged First Snow?

Thank you so much for this! I have found several blends that should be similar, but still unique. HH Burley Flake seems promising. "A simple classic, Mac Baren's HH Burley Flake uses ripe Virginias and a touch of Dark-Fired Kentucky to complement its Burley base, making for a pleasant, mellow...

Blends Similar to Slow-Aged First Snow?

That’s what I’m hearing on here.
  13. Ora Pro Nobis

Home and Hearth Slow-Aged First Snow Review

Just bought a tin. The favor profiles are very similar! Thanks!
  14. Ora Pro Nobis

Home and Hearth Slow-Aged First Snow Review

Really? Is it semi mild as well?
  15. Ora Pro Nobis

Home and Hearth Slow-Aged First Snow Review

As you can probably tell by the frequency of my latest reviews, I recently bought some new blends in one big order. I wish I could profess to some intellectual method of choosing said blends, say perhaps based on flake, region, taste profile, etc. The truth, however, is that I just bough some...
  16. Ora Pro Nobis

Blends Similar to Slow-Aged First Snow?

Home and Hearth Slow-Aged First Snow. Now, I know this may sound odd, but this blend gives me an earthy "hay-like" aroma that I just really seem to enjoy. It's a nice change from aromatics, which I usually smoke. What else is out there that has given you the same "experience"? Now, I know we...
  17. Ora Pro Nobis

    Preferred Lighter

I've never had too much of an issue with fluid taste, but I was curious if someone had found something I haven't. I agree that the best thing to do is to let the Zippo burn a second or two.
  18. Ora Pro Nobis

    C&D Autumn Evening

It seems, even in my part of the woods, Fall is slowly walking in. This is a good thing. With the first grey skies and cool wind I found myself seeking Fall blends. As I tend to do, I came on here and also searched the web for reviews of favorite Autumn blends to fill my pipes and enjoy the...
  19. Ora Pro Nobis

    Preferred Lighter

I think this is the way to go.
  20. Ora Pro Nobis

    Preferred Lighter

What fluid are you using in your Zippos? Is there one that has the least amount of "taste" to it?
