Britain's Best Briar Pipe Found in Antique Shop - Should I Buy?

I have a feeling that Geoff Watson (Cambridge Pipe Repairs) may have hung up his hat. I tried contacting him recently but have not heard back

    Opinions on the Prince Shape

I love the elegance of a Prince. These are my 3 The Ashton (bottom) was listed as a straight tomato. I asked the vendor (Blue Room Briars) to make it look more princely by putting in a slight curve in the stem. Depending on the cut of the tobacco 20mins to 30+mins smoke

    A Pair of Old Survivors

    Are Windcaps Over?

Ditto. All that metal gets pretty hot. I smoke my windcaps with the lids raised to facilitate tamping. You risk scorched digits opening and closing the caps The underside of the caps blacken if kept down during a smoke and is a pain to keep shiny 😏 Reminds me of a motoring show I watched some...

Massive Kaywoodie, 13" Long; Display Pipe that Works

Humongous Parker bent billiard in the "Interesting Completed EBay Auctions thread" It's a piece worthy of @Chasing Embers I did wonder if this was a display piece for a tobacconist

    Are Windcaps Over?

Thank you @Choatecav for your kind comments. Of course I place the blame on @sablebrush52 for my severe case of pipe envy (Barlings) and PAD Re: photos Purely amateur(ish) and taken with my i-phone. Thanks to advances like photo-cropping and editing

    A Thought On Jazz.

I love certain genres of jazz. Others not so much so. I prefer musicality over virtuosity. Much of what we get on the radio here is elevator music. A series of farts strung together is not music. My individual opinion, of course

Just celebrated my 72nd birthday. I average 4 bowls per week with a rotation of around 200 pipes. Not going to LOOK at a virgin meer - unless someone can guarantee me a lifespan like Methuselah 😏

    Antique Store Finds

Well done 👏👏 That’s the way to go. Get some cheap pipes to practice on - little harm done if you stuff up. You can only get better with the practice. Rebornpipes is a great reference resource.

***What Are You Smoking, Nov. 2024?***

The next smoke was a bowl of Cowboy Coffee. In a cob This blend was the driest out of the pouch. One match light, with no relights throughout. Burned down to ash. A slight prickle on the tongue at the light. Then very, very faint tongue prickle intermittently. This is the closest I’ve...

W.O. Larsen 1st Era (Copenhagen) Purchase

Dickwandiger sounds like an instrument a urologist might use 🤔 That shape is a bit difficult to classify - definitely NOT a billiard. The sides are too straight to qualify as an egg, and too tall for a brandy. It‘s more of a champagne tulip or a narrow white wine glass shape.
