    Pipe Smoking and Cancer

Now I’m imagining a “What Album Would You Be Pressed Into?” thread. https://www.andvinyly.com/

    Mayonnaise as a Repair Lotion

What’s the world coming to? Before you know it, we’ll be using nose oil or grape seed oil and steel wool.

    Pipe Smoking and Cancer

I see the unique opportunity to market “special pipe mud” here at the site . . .

Show Off Your GBD Pipes (and 2nds)

So, I had been on the hunt for a GBD Chairman pipe for at least a couple of years. It is a matching briar pipe and stand cut from a single block, so the grain on the two pieces aligns exactly. A small button and divot are added to register the pieces of briar when put together. They’re very...

    Just Checking...

The bend certainly looks more like the stem that gets put on the 601 Churchwarden—the 401 Churchwarden stem is typically much less curved.

    Old Leather Tobacco Pouches

@Joe H Thanks for your story and pics! As requested, I’m posting some of my vintage pipe tobacco pouches. A Dunhill with its box: A GBD in box with original plastic bag with GBD logo still intact: A tiny Savinelli in box: A larger Savinelli with no packaging:

***What Are You Smoking, July 2024?***

The rustication on yours ties in nicely with the crosshatched pattern, though!

***What Are You Smoking, July 2024?***

Inspired by @FurCoat I decided to have Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye Flake in a Kaufmann Bros. & Bondy (KB&B, a precursor to Kaywoodie) Gutta-percha Eagle Claw with Briar screw-in bowl, and orific bit, circa 1930s or earlier.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2024?***

Having Seattle Pipe Club Potlatch in a Gresham Magnum (by Comoy’s) 814 Bent Billiard while I continue to catch up on the 2024 World Cup of Darts.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2024?***

Going to have Savinelli 140° (1358/2800) in my 60th Birthday pipe, a virgin, sandblasted Savinelli Autograph Extraordinaire (Eccezionale) Fan while I catch up on the 2024 World Cup of Darts. Full back story on this unique pipe here.

    Charatan Restoration of Sorts

Pretty pipe! A suggestion for next time: Tape the shank to mask the wood and take off the oxidation on the stem with the pipe assembled—it looks like you may have sanded the stem separately and rounded off the sharp edges of the stem face where it meets the wood—there should be a straight...

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

Having a box pressed Famous Smoke Shop Nicaraguan Selection 3000 Grande Robusto, 6.0" x 60 (made by Oliva) on the porch. It’s 86⁰ and humid out. Wasabi is moving to various spots trying to get comfy. I’ll kick back and relax with this smoke until I have to pick up our standing order of...

Do Dyed Meers Lose their Color?

I imagine the colour of the dye will change some from exposure to ultraviolet light. Fortunately, your pipe has a lot of blue in it, which will be one of the last colours to fade—think of cans vegetables that might’ve been on display in a window at a local store/supermarket; the labels often...

    What Hearts Are For

I’m sorry you’re going through this. When we bought our house in Pennsylvania at the beginning of the pandemic, we hoped Susan’s Boston Terrier, Rocco, could live with us there another five years. But, his intestinal cancer took him shortly after that—he was only able to visit the house once...

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

Having a Perdomo 20th Anniversary Epicure Toro, 6.0" x 56 on the porch. We’re listening to tunes and poor Wasabi is scared by the fireworks and barking his little head off. Wasabi roped Susan into playing with his stuffed shrimp dumpling toy.

Happy July 4th! Having a box pressed Famous Smoke Shop Nicaraguan Selection 3000 Grande Robusto, 6.0" x 60 (made by Oliva) on the porch.

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

    Having a 2006 Torano Noventa Santiago Robusto 5.0" x 49. It’s 81⁰ and I’m off duty now.

Good Coffee & Good Inexpensive Machines?

I’ve only used vintage glass and metal stove top versions (a late ex-girlfriend had a world class collection). You would monitor the coffee brewing in the top; when you turn the flame off, the coffee would cool and break the seal, allowing the coffee to drain back into the lower vessel.
