Smoking While Driving: Doohickeys And Thingamajigs

I have a couple of hard plastic cigar ashtrays, made to fit in a cup holder. I use that for straight pipes. For my bents, I put foil cupcake cups in the bottom of the cupholder, and my bents fit just fine. I would be lost without these new dangled cup holders in my Jeep.

How Long Did It Take You?

I got the basics worked through in a few months, but I didn't even know about tampers for 20 years. After 40 years of this, I still am learning new things about technique.

    Inherited a Couple of Pipes

I own about a dozen of them, many bought new. They are good smokers, dependable, and darken considerably with use. They were about $25 when new, in the 1980's. Not exotic by any means, just good, dependable smokers. Yours look well loved. Mine are still great after 35+ years.

What Is Your Favorite English or Balkan Blend Right Now?

Have to admit, I like Penzance best when fresh. I have a jar of it from 2011, and it has lost that lovin’ feeling. The only thing that comes close to me is SPC Plum Pudding. Now Margate is really good, as is Wilderness, and My remaining stash of Chief Catoonah’s Princes Street, and the...

Peterson Saint Patrick's Day 2018 Preview

I don’t disagree, they are good smokers. I have a St. Patrick’s Day 2009 150 Bulldog, and it’s always in my rotation. Guess I have arrived at a point where I am looking for something new besides a different finish and a different colored stem. The 2017 POY comes to mind.

    Recent OTC Blend Experiences

Idk. Had some 40 year old George Washington the other night, and the nutty Burley had me craving my old favorites. Those old OTC blends are great on a fresh, clean palate. Try CH in a cob. It’s great.

Peterson Saint Patrick's Day 2018 Preview

Does seem a bit pricey for an entry level pipe. There are a lot of Peterson models out with the military mounts now. I imagine they are less costly to make. Anyway, I have gotten to the point where I won’t buy a pipe anymore just because the colors are different. I am just sorry I wasn’t able...
