    Montblanc 149 Fountain Pen

I have owned dozens of them...leaky, fiddly, smeary, too thick for comfort like trying to write with a banana. I can see lots of point in owning one, just as I might see the point in owning any archaic example of bygone technology, for the sake of nostalgic collectibility. I can't see any...

    Pipe Juice

Hahaha, well maybe you found a loophole in the laws of physics but for the rest of us the only way that's a good solution is if the outside air is zero humidity and the ambient temperature is equal to or hotter than the smoke as it exits the bowl through the draft hole. And, you don't mind...

    Pipe Juice

Blowing through or shaking the stem won't get rid of the juice in the shank. If you could lay hands on a Falcon, or one of those idiotic-looking contraptions with a spit-valve, you could do away with pipecleaners.

    Jew's/Juice/Jaw/Mouth Harp or Trump

Playing one of those ought to go well with sitting barefoot on the front porch in overalls, with a jug of moonshine, a double-barelled shotgun...and smoking a corncob pipe.

    Allergic to Royal Yacht?

I've never got the sneezes from RY but the taste does wear thin on me after a while and I have to take a good long break from it to be able to enjoy it anew. In your case I would give it a couple weeks, then rechallenge. If it's an allergy, it should come back right away, then you'll know.

The "Bob" of Bob's Chocolate fame is....

Very interesting bit of history. I always thought Bob was short for Roberta, the blender's grandmother, the smell of whose purse inspired the Lakeland scent with which the blend is contaminated :D I do really like their Kendal Mayor's Chocolate Flake though. Apparently hizzonor the mayor...

Mixture 79 and a Root Beer

Love me a good rootbeer...IBC, A&W all good. Dollop of vanilla ice cream, or even just a shot of cream or half&half (the dairy product not the tobacco). I cringe at the thought of ruining the experience of a root beer with the maggot-gagging taste of Mixture 79.

Peterson System Standard Pipe: 302 vs 303

They make (or made) "XL" versions of some shapes, I think including the 302. I had a couple of those. I prefer smaller pipes/shorter smokes myself, but just throwing it out there to complicate things :D

    Calabash PAD

Beautiful pipe! Never saw one like it before. Is it just a calabash shape, or a real gourd? And if the latter, what's the bowl insert made of?

    Breaking-In After Rimming

I avoided it because there was no way I could have stopped myself from sending it into a nosedive and didn't want to get the blame for being the one who did it.

    The Metal Mixtures

Admit it sounds very intruiguing, but one question, why did you name it after women's eye makeup??

Only A Fall Leaves Pipe behind...

When we were kids and felt nauseous but couldn't throw up and didn't want to put a finger down our throat, my grandma would give us hot water to drink and it always did the trick.

Peterson System Standard Pipe: 302 vs 303

I've had both, along with several other shapes. More important than the shape of a Peterson is the quality, which is quite variable. Concentrating your efforts on finding one that's drilled properly and where the tenon end is not shaped so it aggravates the accumulation of condensation and...

What's This?!?! A Bullk Royal Yacht Match Offering?!?!

I find Sutliff's ERR match much closer* to the original than Lane's...which is really a reintroduction not a match, as Lane apparently owns the rights to the original recipe. *I think it's due to the cut being closer to what I remember, which influences the smoking properties

What's This?!?! A Bullk Royal Yacht Match Offering?!?!

I understand buying a match of a discontinued blend, but why would anyone buy a match for RY if they could buy the real thing? To save a few bucks? I suppose if someone smoked RY all day every day it might add up. The tobaccos are top-notch, the topping is mysterious, the blending is...

    Boxes of Tobacco

I've left SG's Kendal Chocolate and Firedance flakes out in the open over 24 hours without noticing any appreciable drying, so I'm not really in a panic hurry to jar their boxes :D If it's a maker known for shipping their blends at the correct smoking moisture, then I'd probably jar it up right...

Flavoring Flake/Rope Tobacco With Rum/Whisky Etc.

Sounds like a lot of work. Then again, if you consider pipesmoking "a hobby" then it stands to reason. Me I'd just smoke the tobacco and drink the booze.

    MM Cob Pipe Query.

If pigs were as picky about the cobs in their swill, corn farmers would be in big trouble :D

Bob Dylan -- Nobel Laureate 2016.... Well Deserved

Agree with everyone who expressed dismay over the commercial and political depths to which the Nobel Prize has sunk in recent times.
