    Go To Pipe Tamper

Just a 99 cent pipe nail with the end being a little paddle thing. I love the paddle especially because when I find myself not smoking a bowl all the way down, I use it to sort of scoop up ash when my bowl goes out and sort of "spackle" the chamber walls, while removing the bits of tobacco stuck...

Finishing off a bowl of F+T Blackjack in the Country Gent.

***What Are You Smoking? January 2020.***

I think a few drinks triggered this departure from Virginia based blends and I'm having my once-per-two-month dose of Latakia. Stokkebye Oriental Supreme in my Latakia only pipe that gets utterly neglected-- a frankly crappy, scorching hot Georg Jensen bent brandy nosewarmer. I recommend giving...

McConnell's Scottish Cake in the Savinelli 320 So VA's, Turkish, Perique and DFK? Sounds like a great blend.

***What Are You Smoking? January 2020.***

My first ever bowl of Fribourg and Treyer Cut Blended Plug in my bulldog only marked "Golden Age". Starts off very mild which seems to be a trend with F+T VA's, but develops lovely flavor near the bottom half of the bowl. Creamy and sweet.

Show Us Your De-Facto, *Best* Smoker

Aesthetics and comfort completely aside, and going strictly with smoking mechanics, if you had to pick one pipe as your best performer, what would it be?

Favorite Esoterica Blends - Besides Penzance

I very much enjoyed a sample of Dorchester I was sent by someone on a Pipes discord server. The topping reminded me faintly of the lemongrass type topping Grousemoor has, but applied much more conservatively. Love the smell of the dry leaf too-- distinctively dried apricot. Underneath that...

    Ageing Tobacco - Recommended Blends?

This one's a no brainer, but sometimes we forget about the obvious: Escudo. Open between the 5 and 10 year mark for best results, imo. As someone who isn't the biggest C&D fan and have a few gripes with their tobaccos, I will say their blends age very, very well. If the tin is swollen, that...

Slowly savoring my second favorite tobacco -- Luxury Bullseye Flake, in a Mark Twain cob. Best smoke I've had in days. I want to remind you all to smoke your favorites! Life is too short puffy

***What Are You Smoking? January 2020.***

Another bowl of 1931 Flake in a Country Gent cob. I think fold and stuff the packing method for this flake, it burns exceptionally well because its a non goopy tobacco that simply catches fire virulently.

    What Is Your GoTo Lighter?

Bic lighters as of right now, but I hope to make the switch to clipper lighters sometime this year. I own a Zippo but I've found the fuel(taste, quick evaporation in the "tank"), to be deal breakers for me.

    4th Generation 1931 Flake

I'm having a bowl of this 1931 as I write, and before packing I really took the time to sit down and inspect the topping. I think I've finally figured it out. North Americans may not be too familiar but if any Eastern Europeaners can confirm this is a common flavor profile over there-- I think...

    Your Least Favorite Tobacco

So I'm not on the crazy pills-- well that's reassuring.

    Which Side of The Mouth?

I voted " I can't make up my mind ", but really I just consciously rotate it so I don't get some sort of muscular imbalance or tooth/gum/cheek issues. I instinctively want to always clench on my right side, though.

PSA (long): New Smokers: You Do Not Need An Expensive Pipe

Thank you for this. Sometime this year I shall resume ebaying, and this thread has been a very informative study.

    Your Current Combo

Mid bowl of some Scottish Cake and a malty Polish lager. Simply sublime.
