When Nothing Tastes Good - Open a McClelland Tin

I will put ketchup on anything that doesn’t move. I naturally fell in love the first time I tore open a can of Christmas Cheer and smelled that delicious Heinz, vinegar, ketchup smell. McClelland VA’s make my mouth water like no other tobacco. I do love them so. I cellared deep when I had the...

    MLB Thread

Yup...I’m quite sure the Astros weren’t the only team to ever think of that. They were just stupid enough to get caught. Oh well. That World Series trophy needs an asterisks on it.

Big time Braves fan here too. Cut my teeth in the late 80’s and 90’s watching them on TBS. That pitching staff was incredible. Was glad to see all three and Chipper go to the HOF. Haven’t been to the new ballpark yet. Kinda hard to justify a road trip up from Orlando like I used to be able to...

I loved the 90’s Braves. That pitching trio was out of this world! I fondly refer to those years as the TBS years.

    Appreciating Big Numbers

They are gorgeous for sure. I wiped 7 or 8 billion gallons of oil off the belly of that 195 during my teenage years. Earned a lot of airplane rides that way. My neighbor would fly around NC to conduct his business and I’d stay at the FBO wiping oil while he was away. I had a system...turn the...

    Appreciating Big Numbers

One hell of an airplane, the 185. When I was a kid, my neighbor had a 195. Loved to hear that round engine early in the AM. Fantastic airplane but nowhere as nimble as the 185.

    Any Morel Mushroom Hunters

I’m with you. You screw up once and you’re toast. Or at least that’s what “the old people” used to say when I was a kid. Mushrooms were everywhere when the summer rains came. We used to pick them or just play with them and the old people would yell at us saying they were poisonous. I don’t...

Funny And Odd Sayings From Our Elders

My old man quite often used the following: -Boy, you’re so lazy, you wouldn’t work in a pie factory. -I’m busier than a cat covering shit right now. -You’re so weak, you couldn’t pull the fart out a butter bean. -You’ve got so many freckles, it looks like someone threw shit at you through a...

    Hi from Phoenix, Arizona

Welcome to the forums from Florida. I think your experience is very reminiscent of a lot of folks here. Many of us started enjoying cigars but realized they are expensive. Pipes and pipe tobacco provide more enjoyment for less. Glad you’re here!

Comoys Cask no.4 Navy Stand Fast Flake

I love this VA flake too. I use it to experiment sometimes. I’ll stick about a dozen flakes in a small mason jar and put a teaspoon or so of rum, scotch, etc... Let them sit for 6 months or a year and you’ve got an excellent smoke. It provides a great blank VA palate to work with. I also enjoy...

On April 15, 1912 the Titanic Sunk: Here are Some Pipes

It’s amazing that those pipes didn’t just crumble to pieces after being on the bottom for as long as they were. I would have expected the cob, at least, to fall apart from the pressure and being exposed to water.

    A Trip to Cuba!

I agree 100%! If he doesn’t buy from La Casa del Habano, consider it a fake. That’s the only place you’re guaranteed the genuine article. Be prepared to pay. The real ones aren’t cheap.
