    Combining Blends?

Sometimes I’ll fold up a sliver of Mac Baren Vanilla Cream Flake with Mac Baren HH Burley Flake. That little bit of vanilla really highlights the dry cocoa flavor in the burley.

    Seriously? Rustication Gone Awry?

Hahahahaha! I’m smoking a Derry 408 right now and was just thinking how I should say it has “butter knife rustication.” It smokes great, but pretty damned ugly….in a good way.

LJ Peretti: No. 8 Slices & Cambridge Flake

I popped in when I visited Boston back in January. Just a very cool place, and the staff was great. I was trying to spare my wife too much boredom, so I didn’t linger quite as long as I might have otherwise. I picked up a souvenir Stamp Act magnet at a gift shop, and stuck it to the top...

Will Italian Makers Ever Switch Back to Ebonite/Vulcanite Stems?

Me too. Even though I’m otherwise pretty fussy with cleaning my pipes, vulcanite maintenance is just too tedious for me.

    Your Favorite Underrated Blend

I think Low Country Waccamaw and Edisto both fly under the radar.

    Your Favorite Underrated Blend

Mac Baren Virginia Flake with a few years of age is a great blend. To my palate, it is much different then HH Pure Virginia. VF is lighter, and little spicier, and has some sort of very light casing or topping. Maybe honey, maybe citrus, maybe both.

    Orientals Anyone?

I agree. CS is fantastic, and I’m very glad I had already stocked up when McClelland closed its doors

    Orientals Anyone?

    That’s probably a Lakeland blend
