    Smoking a Pipe with GERD/Reflux

You hit on two important factors with GERD that I think deserves attention. First, when are laying down gravity is no longer working for you. GERD is worse at night when you are laying down. Second, fats decrease stomach emptying which makes GERD worse. Having a pipe, whiskey, and a pizza...

    Question About Open Tins

 - really, jar it up and go back to it in a few months. I think you will like it eventually. If I was thinking about someone tampering with the tobacco, I would get nausea as well. Some people ignore those things and wake up in a bathtub without a kidney…. Just sayin’ TOSS IT! Ain’t...

    Question About Open Tins

I think we both would take the tin if he sent it. I really enjoy EMP as a first bowl in the morning - the name may be of some influence in my enjoyment. Same reason the OP may get nausea.

    Smoking a Pipe with GERD/Reflux

Both tobacco and alcohol decrease the resting pressure of the LES (lower esophageal sphincter) at end of esophagus allowing increased reflux. Why you experience a paradoxical reaction would require further investigation. @olkofri - I am certainly not "anti-smoking mafia", but both do increase...

    Question About Open Tins

The reason I suggested throwing it away is that if you are truly concerned there is something wrong with the tobacco, I personally would not want to give it to another person. I am not concerned based upon his post, but he may be.

    Leather Bound Pipes

They both will add some 'function' to a smoke. Rustication increases surface area of the outside allowing for increased cooling - same reason my V-twin Harley has cooling fins. I am not sure what leather will do to the smoke and hesitate to offer another uninformed opinion.

    Question About Open Tins

Once you get it in your head that you might be nauseated, it will happen! It is a self fulfilling prophecy. EMP is a great tobacco, so jar it up and go back to it later after you have more experience. If the lack of vacuum seal is bothering you, throw it out and move on. In the end it does...
