    Preferred Tobacco in Oz.

What are the top five tobbacos Oz pipers are smoking?

    Defective General Cob

Thanks for that. I'll give it a go.

    Defective General Cob

Thanks for that gents. Yeah, on looking at it again it is probably only the plaster cracking. And I'm not losing sleep over it, it is just that I couldn't figure it out. It was bought from Smokingpipes, they refunded the purchase price. And I'll take it on notice that it will keep smoking OK...

    Defective General Cob

Gents, I was wondering if someone could give me some direction with this defective General cob. It is starting to split horizontally around the bowl. It has only been smoked about ten times. Gets a rest in between smokes. I emailed Marilyn at MM, and she said it's probably because I'm smoking...

    Peterson’s Chamber Coating - What A Mess!

Well...Sykes Wilford might be a 'thoughtful' contributor here, but it would be a simple courtesy to reply to emails sent to them at Peterson's. I am unimpressed to say the least!

    Peterson’s Chamber Coating - What A Mess!

Have they sold out to the Chinese?

    Peterson’s Chamber Coating - What A Mess!

I emailed Peterson's twice. No reply. Go figure.

What Does Tongue Bite feel Like?

Don't worry...you'll know when you get it!

    Prince Albert

Thanks for that. Sounds very interesting. But I see 4noggins doesn't have it; and no-one else ships to Oz with anything like a sensible price. The guys at Smokingpipes quoted me $145 for twelve ounces. That is sent directly to Customs, and they immediately destroy it...go figure!

Someone said that they always smoked their PA in a cob. I do that now, also. My Peterson 315 XL doesn't give nearly the same kind of 'quality' smoke that I thought it might, and that the cob does deliver. So, I was glad for the heads-up with that cob/PA advice!

Yes, I appreciate how 'taste' is a very individual thing. And I notice how my blends will often taste quite different at various times.

I know a chap in London who started smoking Gold Block in 1967...and is still smoking it today. Plus, he has never smoked any other kind of tobacco. "That" is consistent!

You know, the weird thing about the bowl of the pipe after I'd finished the Penzance, it smelt great. But I couldn't do it again. Plus Mike sent me some Dorchester also. I really like that.

    Shout out!

    My apologies Jonesy.

    Shout out!

I want to thank mikebjrtx for reaching out to me, then sending a number of gifts of leaf, from Texas, down here to Oz. He not only sent sufficient to keep me 'afloat' so to speak, but also gifted me some Penzance 2013. Of course it is a brilliantly crafed blend, but it is something my plain...

PA gets a fair bit of 'stick' being a monochrome, uninteresting blend. I was sitting outside looking at the stars and Mt. Stuart and enjoying some PA in my Peterson's Sherlock Holmes number. I for one, am grateful to such a consistent & enjoyable blend. I've had a crack at top blends, for...

MacBaren's Seven Seas Royal from 4noggins

Yeah, well, that kid of yours would be a sensible addition to the crew. Probably because of his age, he'd be the only one on the crew that wasn't full of crap, and twice as stupid!!!

MacBaren's Seven Seas Royal from 4noggins

Thanks mate. It was pointed out to me, that I was looking on the wrong page. I should have been looking on the "Tinned" page, and not bulk. Bulk was where I got my last four oz order. So maybe Jeff is just doing the big bags, and tins now.

MacBaren's Seven Seas Royal from 4noggins

OK, I'm slightly incorrect. I emailed SP's, they got back to me and said they do ship to Oz, but it is sent directly to Customs. And get this, it costs aroung $140US to post approx. 10-16 ozs of leaf. Plus, when it gets to Customs it is destroyed. Go figure!

They send everything except pipe tobacco.
