Using Rubbing Alcohol to Sweeten a Sour Pipe.

After reading everyone’s advice I rechecked the bottle of alcohol. It says 70 isopropyl alcohol, is this the same as rubbing alcohol or was I mistaken?

Using Rubbing Alcohol to Sweeten a Sour Pipe.

I’ll keep this in mind for next time. Would this method work for Meers and Cobs as well? Luckily the pipe in question is just a cheap beater briar and nothing special.

Using Rubbing Alcohol to Sweeten a Sour Pipe.

Oh that makes sense. From what I had read online it suggested that wouldn’t happen, however other posts said it would. It sure smells better now at least. :)

Using Rubbing Alcohol to Sweeten a Sour Pipe.

Not submerged, just filled the bowl with rubbing alcohol and placed it in a stand to keep the pipe upright.

Using Rubbing Alcohol to Sweeten a Sour Pipe.

Title edited for caps. Rule 9 on title formation. Hello everyone, after reading several threads on dealing with a sour pipe, I soaked my briar pipe in rubbing alcohol for almost 24 hours. I had run out of pipe cleaners and as a result it had gotten very nasty. However after soaking and rinsing...

    Meerschaum questions.

I am now on my second pipe from Paykoc. Both had the same carving, both cracked in nearly the same place. I may have smoked the first one too hot, but absolutely did my best on my second. I have added more pipes to my collection to allow more time between smoking my Paykoc meer, and it still...

    Meerschaum questions.

I greatly appreciate the input. This was the brand my local tobacco shop carried so it’s the one I wound up with. I will absolutely be ordering one with thicker walls from one of the companies you mentioned.

    Meerschaum questions.

I think you may be correct. Neither lasted more then 2 months before they cracked. This is my first experience with Meerschaums and will definitely get my next from one of the companies that you mentioned. Thank you.

    Meerschaum questions.

That’s good to know. I absolutely love this pipe and want to get more. Altan Paykoc is in contact with me now via email. Their customer service is quick, I just emailed them 15 mins ago. :)

    Meerschaum questions.

Update: I just noticed a hairline crack forming. I baby my Meerschaum as I know it is soft, and always use a tool to dislodge the dottle. Are carved meers prone to cracking? The crack is in a similar place as my last one. This pipe is only smoked at home so I don’t feel that I have been rough...

    Meerschaum questions.

Hello all. I am new to meerschaum pipes, and am absolutely hooked! I am curious if meerschaums need rotated like briar pipes, I’ve been smoking it daily several bowls. Somewhere around 3-5. Also I am curious if I should smoke it completely or tap out the dottle once it gets unenjoyable. Was not...

Hello, and Good Day from Kansas in America.

Hello hive mind. I am new to this forum, although I have had a fascination about tobacco pipes and have smoked off and on for 20 some years. Fell out of the habit a few times, but am back to blowing smoke rings. Finally purchased my first meerschaum from Paykoc and couldn’t be happier with the...
