Finger Pickin' Good Weird Country Music

I don't know if it is weird, but I refuse to let any opportunity go by without singing the praises of Billy String's "Renewal". It is an amazing album.

I'm Getting Addicted To Forever Stems

I'm a bit ignorant on this, perhaps someone could help me out, but what exactly is a forever stem? What makes it different from other acrylic or vulcanite stems?

    New Member Joining Rate ?

I'm fairly new here, so I can't really say with any authority what this forum was like a few years ago. But I can say having been on other forums during my college years, that many forums deal with this kind of thing. Random influxes of people due to a search engine algorithm sending them...

    Smoking Dog Hair

I got a cat, and it has become part of my presmoke "ritual" to pick cat hairs out of my pipes. My tobacco stays jarred until I'm ready to smoke, so it's rare that a cat hair gets into the tobacco itself. But I'm sure I smoked a cat hair or two. The cat dad life ain't for the faint of heart.

    Unsubscribed

I have been watching his videos with a lot of mirth, albeit for all the wrong reasons. It's sad to see yet another narcissistic misanthrope on YouTube play victim. The so-called YTPC is filled with these kinds of absurd characters, and Alan is definitely a character, so it's hard not to view...

    Peterson St. Patrick’s Day 2023

I think the green stems could work if they were done a bit more tastefully. 2022 had this garish green that looked like the plastic you would see on a child's toy. If it weren't for that, I would likely pick up one. Same with the Halloween pipes. An orange stem could look really cool done...

    Peterson St. Patrick’s Day 2023

It was originally meant to be a one-off thing, but became a part of their permanent rotation. Their Dracs tend to sell very well. I love mine. I curl up with it when I watch old horror films like a complete cornball.

Making the Jump to Larger Bowls?

I prefer somewhat larger pipes myself. Peterson's XL sized pipes and larger American-style pipes from the likes of Boswell are very appealing to me. Even though I prefer large pipes, I do keep pipes of all sizes and shapes around, or at least as best I can; my collection pales in comparison...

    Grabbing tobacco from aging jars

To answer your questions in order: 1. Yes. 2. It slows it down, but does not stop it entirely. But I don't care. The jars are to keep it fresh. The aging is a bonus. 3. They age in tins. However, and this is something I always get pushback on, many tins are crappily made and I wouldn't...

    Bond Street Adventure

Isn't Bob Runowski's Pegasus blend supposed to be an attempt to mimic Bond Street? I'd be curious to know how close the two taste. I never had Bond Street, but I have had Pegasus, and it is delicious.

    Gurgling

You will get it in time. It just takes a little practice. My advice, and this is something I would do regardless of gargle, is to keep handy a pipe cleaner and just run it through every now and then. You'd be amazed how much that helps. Especially with the really sugary aros, they can be a...

    Sutliff's Pumpkin Spice is...meh.

To me, HBS is like Adobo or something: you can put it in just about anything. But I think Jupiter would be a fun experiment.

    Favorite Factory Pipe Brands

That's tough. I'd say Peterson has my favorites, but Stanwell is more consistent in their quality. Both their Danish and current Italian pipes are absolutely fantastic for the price (I seriously don't understand why the newer pipes get so much hate; I've pipes from both eras, and both smoke...

    Mold Confirmation

Oh, no question. It happens. But I find better luck with the jars. Just my experience.

    Mold Confirmation

That's awesome on C&D! Glad you were able to get a refund. And I'm with you on the blends that are good right away. I mean, if they get better with time, that's awesome! But tomorrow is not promised, and all that.

    Mold Confirmation

And that's another important point people miss. If I buy some tobacco and I find it has mold as soon as I get it, I may be able to get my money back or get the tins replaced, depending on whom I bought it from, etc. But no business is going to replace tobacco I left in a tin several years ago...

    Mold Confirmation

Just toss it. It's just tobacco. Why risk literally smoking mold on some weird off-chance that it may not be? That's so dumb, no offense. In the future, don't just let your tobacco sit in some crappy mass-produced tin. I don't care if it "ages better" or whatever. Put it in a quality jar...

    Cat safe tobacco drying

My cat, Smokey, does not like it when I smoke. His name belies his true nature, I suppose. Every now and then, he will crawl into my lap or let his curiosity get the better of him, but once I get some smoke going, he dips. But the muslin bag thing is a good idea. I don't worry about Smokey...

The Last Third of the Bowl

That trick with the apple that Embers mentioned is a good one. My palate "cleanser" is usually a beer, but Ember's method is probably more effective. As for how that last third tastes? As with so many pipe smoking questions, the answer just simply depends. Some blends really open up and get...

    Musk Buying Twitter Part II

As for what young folks are using, I mean, yea, they are using the likes of TikTok and other social media platforms more. But it's pretty uncommon to find one without a Facebook profile. They may not use it much, but they have one. And as another person pointed out, a lot of these apps are...
