Like so many things in life, inexpensive outsells expensive.

    Most Popular Pipe?

Saw this at the Grabow site: This isn’t a model by model breakdown, but they are making 200,000 pipes a year. Perhaps this could be a starting point in figuring this out. I also found this blurb on the net, but I was unable to access the site from which it came: Also found this at smoking...

Cheap Cigar Tobacco in a Tiny Pipe?

I didn’t explain that very well. I have never met the guys. I don’t frequent the place, and one of the employees there told me about it. I don’t fully remember, but I think it was something about not being able to get pipe tobacco where they were. I think it just became their habit after that...

Cheap Cigar Tobacco in a Tiny Pipe?

At the local cigar (and pipe) shop here in town there are a couple of veterans who apparently picked up a habit during the Vietnam war that they still have today. They smoke cigars out of pipes. I’m not sure why, I don’t know the guys to ask them why they do what they do, I just know that they...

The Four Hundred Marxman Pipe Owner's Thread

I found this Wikipedia article that is interesting. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Four_Hundred_(Gilded_Age)#:~:text=Reportedly%2C%20Ward%20McAllister%20coined%20the,the%20ballrooms%20of%20high%20society. It’s about a list that used to be published in New York, which as you know is where...

The Four Hundred Marxman Pipe Owner's Thread

I now have two of them. The top one is stamped 64 B and the bottom one is stamped F I. No number, unless the “I” is a Roman numeral. Of course, both are stamped “The Four Hundred”. The top one has a 1” bore and weighs 57.5g. The bottom one has a 7/8” bore and weighs 65g. The bottom one fits...

    Indiana’s Excise Tax

It’s interesting, because I can now buy SWR, Half and Half, and others at a B&M for less than I can via mail order. Not much less, but it is cheaper. For example, I can buy Half and Half for $5.66 after tax locally. At SP, that would cost me $6.45 after the excise tax and state tax.

    Indiana’s Excise Tax

I live in Indiana, I certainly noticed the tax. Since it is based on the wholesale price, it usually ends up being about 15% on top of the total on average. One thing it has taught me is the wholesale prices of various tobacco blends. I don’t like it, but at least they don’t add it at B&Ms...

    In Defence of WAYS

It’s a way of stating what would be very obvious if we were actually hanging out and smoking in the same place. I like seeing pipe brands I don’t know and hearing of tobacco I don’t about. No conversation required, just a chance to observe what other people like to smoke and what they like to...

@chasingembers Those are all truly wonderful pipes, but this one really stands out to me. That’s exquisite.

Who Else is Addicted to Algerian Briar?

I think I have some pre-54 on the way, but how can you be sure of what year they are? I didn’t find definitive answers on the net to this point. If they are USA made, is that pre-54?

Who Else is Addicted to Algerian Briar?

I hope I do, because all of your talk about Marxman pipes has caused me to pursue a couple of them. I need to know what all the fuss is about!

Georg Jensen Pipes - Models, Shapes, Info, and Mysteries

I have one that just says Jensen (capital J others letters small) centered over MADE IN DENMARK. It is also stamped 95 with no other stampings on the pipe. It is hard to see the stamping in the photos, I did the best I could.
