L.D.G. stamped pipes?
I haven't a clue what it is, but I do know it's not related to us. We've never stamped basket (or other) pipes 'LDG'. Incidentally, if anyone is curious, the only time we stamp pipes is: 1) Limited editions tied to Smokingpipes (like our 15th Anniversary Eltangs or 10th Anniversary Cavicchis)... -

Sorry for the late reply, just seeing this now... Yeah, from what I saw, I think the stain probably remained the same and the application method changed. Briar changes could have played a role too, but in my experience there's more randomness within a given batch of briar than between batches of...- swilford

New Estate Dunhill--Should I Return?
These are things that may be issues or may be innocuous, depending on circumstances. The divots are probably, but not definitely, impressions from the chuck that holds the stummel in place while it's being turned. If it's unsmoked and they're not terribly deep, and there's a pattern to them... -
Savinelli Two Dot?
I found a couple more Savinelli Gold pipes that Smokingpipes.com sold a few years ago in other shapes, but it didn't yield much more information. They're all sandblasts in that same stain, but the gold bands vary quite a bit in shape. The old Nonpareils with the horn mount also had two gold dots... -

Blockade Runner, what do I do with this brick???
In this case, you can just break off a corner and rub it out; no knife needed. It's ribbon pressed (a cake), not leaf pressed (a plug), so this works just fine. MSO is right about plugs though: they need to be cut with a knife. It's can be confusing since C&D makes both cakes and plugs, but most...- swilford

That's Shane's pipe. I rather doubt he'd part with it, but I'll let him speak to that if he wishes. It's also the only 4002 I've ever seen (keeping in mind that it's probably mid-late 1960s). Hey, that pipes does not have a filter. What is giving the impression it does? The 402 shape doesn't come in 6mm filter and the Petite series doesn't come in 6mm filter. They're all unfiltered. Sykes
