That sounds like a TLS 1.0 issue (and you're feeling it lots of places and it'll get worse, since PCI compliance standards dictate deprecating it). I'm guessing you're running an old enough version of Mac OS that you can't upgrade to a newer browser? You can also try to install Chrome or Firefox for Mac.
