I agree with your priority. A beautiful pipe you don't enjoy smoking is a waste and once you smoke it you can't recover the cost. I have a few of those.

It's too bad the occhio di pernice from Corti isn't your size because the birdseye is pretty rare, especially for a KK. I've seen KKKKs that were much less intricate and symmetrical. The pipe is a tad short for me but compared to most of the Castellos I have, 44gm is on the light side.;)

Spectacular pipe. I've never seen a Castello in that shape (or any other pipes for that matter! Beautiful collection and cabinet in the background. Thanks for sharing.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

GLP Regents Flake tinned on June 22, 2023. I do like the fact that the date label is straightforward rather than an indecipherable set of numbers you need an enigma machine to decode. The tobacco was very moist, which might account for the blob of mold at 12 o'clock. Luckily, the rest of the...

I like the look of the boxwood stems but I think I would keep them in reserve and smoke the acrylic ones. Mind you, I like the look of all your Castellos!

    English Fatigue?

I used to love the rich, umami flavor of Latakia blends, especially the ones with plenty of Orientals. However, once I discovered the mellow complexity of Virginia blends, and learned how to smoke them without getting them overheated, I pretty much abandoned English blends. A common...

I would definitely look at the estates market. For approximately the same price (or several hundred less) there is a large unsmoked Castello pipe in a very unique (and to me stunning) shape on smokingpipes.com. If you don't want a dublin, there is a nice great line cherrywood shape, that has a...
