My go-to combo, and I'm new to this so don't have many options, has been Haunted Bookshop in a MM Elf Cobbit.

***What Are You Smoking, May 2020?***

Two new horizons, my first briar pipe, a A. Curtz Billiard, and first Cavendish blend Boswell's Best, both thanks to peteguy. Paired with a Lapsang Souchong heavy Russian Caravan tea blend. Lovely combination for a leisurely afternoon.

    Choosing a Pipe

I started out buying a Cobbit Elf and a MM Hardwood Ozark. The two together were not that much, and I liked having two pipes to alternate between. I love the Cobbit Elf, It is a little long, but I appreciate the aesthetic and like the longer churchwarden stem it is very comfortable to smoke.

    What It "Smells" Like

I've enjoyed the room note of C&D Visions of Celephais. Some however call it the Grape Ape. I am pretty new to smoking pipes too, and never had a cigarette habit to compare it to.

***What Are You Smoking, May 2020?***

Lovely morning. Some light sketching and watercolor in my journal with an inexpensive J Herbin clear fountain, portable watercolor set, and a bowl of Haunted Bookshop in my MM Ozark Hardwood. Not pictured an uncharacteristic COFFEE for my morning cuppa not tea, as today will be a busy day of...

    New Pipe Smoking Innovation

PROS - Can play 12 string, blues harmonica and smoke at the same time. CONS - Difficult to fit pipe cleaners into harmonica holes.

***What Are You Smoking, May 2020?***

Watching the streetlights turn off this morning with my journal, trusty Jean-Pierre Levine fountain, and a MM Ozark Hardwood of Haunted Bookshop. In the tumbler is a nice Temi estate Sikkim first flush from Nepal.

    Backpacking Blend Suggestion

So one thing you might be able to tell from my profile picture is I spend a lot of time in the woods backpacking. I'm actually heading out next weekend, for about 40 miles or so in the PA backcountry. (definitely somewhere relatively untraveled so I can keep to social distancing guidelines). I...

    Fountain Pens

I really worked a great deal on improving my handwriting and developing a script. I regularly write with a fountain pen in a nice journal / commonplace book it is a part of my daily ritual. I have actually kept a nearly continuous written journal since my teens. Two pens I particularly love...

    My First Really Enjoyable Bowl

Yeah, I was totally going to go that way myself..... but I have ended up getting seduced by blends with cool reviews or which have neat names, got me smoking Haunted Booshop and Visions of Calaphais..... Considering they aren't all that expensive, I kind of feel like, why not?

Jim's C&D Visions of Celephais Review.

OK, remember how I said I was avoiding aromatics until I got a better handle on some more basic tobacco blends? I totally didn't do that. In my defense, I ALSO said I had a tendency to buy things because they have a cool name... see Haunted Bookshop, so there's that. So the main thing I get...
