*** What Are You Smoking?*** (August 2018)

Starting the day with coffee.. porch time, waiting for the sun to come up, listening to the night critters who are headed home....and, a bowl of what is quickly becoming my very favorite....a mix of Match Troost and Match Flying Dutchman. Fairly close to Heaven.

*** What Are You Smoking?*** (August 2018)

Started the day with a bowl of Flying Dutchman Match, with coffee, while witnessing the sunrise. Now into a bowl of Amphora Original, that I just got from P&C this week. Oh my....Saturday joy! :puffpipe:

*** What Are You Smoking?*** (August 2018)

A mix of McBaren Golden Extra (75%) and Match Flying Dutchman (25%). Just one of my trusty cobs, but this is truly a "heaven" mix that I stumbled across....just seemed like they would play together nicely, and they do....in spades. I only ordered an ounce of the MGE, not really expecting...

    New Russ Blend: Fudge Cake.

Thanks, Russ. Still hoping for more FDA sense. (sorry for the oxymoron). I'll probably sample the the Fudge Cake at some point, since it sounds like it's tobacco forward.

    New Russ Blend: Fudge Cake.

Did a crack in the FDA door just appear? It was just about a year ago, when P&C shuttered many of the Russ' Monthly Blends. Now, there's a new one, just announced today. Is there hope yet for other new blends? Naturally, my heart beats fast for Lane to continue on with the other Edgeworth...

*** What Are You Smoking?*** (July 2018)

A very busy day that started with continuing the harvest of a 40' Oak that my neighbor had to cut down...and, now a brand new Aristocob Mark Twain, with some delightful Match Flying Dutchman....sample provided through the generosity of Jiminks :worship: Ordering more of this excellent blend.

*** What Are You Smoking?*** (July 2018)

Since the temps were a bit less today, due to storms moving thru, I spent the day working on a mantle for a customer here in Bella Vista. Cherry wood, that the customer's father milled from a dead tree, some years back. Unfortunately, it was not stored well, and the warping, cupping, and...

    The "Other" Carter Hall

...and, now Smoker's Pride Rich Taste....same technique....same results. Awesome! The porch is calling!

    The "Other" Carter Hall

Confession time. I'm going to lay all of the bitterness blame...well most of the blame... on my technique. Granted, I took the CH tub contents, spread it out in a 9x13 casserole dish, and placed it in a west-facing window for three days, where it "cooked" during our late-ending summer. Then...

Heartbroken! The Dumbest Thing I Ever Did. 9-15-17

Sad to hear....not just because of the pipes, but because they had been in your dad's collection. Priceless, no matter what they were worth. My dad passed just a little over two years ago, and all of us sibs treasure the items we shared out, that had belonged to him.

    Pipes and Cigars

Great service. I have noticed a couple of issues with the website shopping cart, however. One of Russ' blends this last weekend caused shipping to jump from $3.99 to $6.99 if more than one ounce was placed in the cart. None of the other blends caused that problem. Some months ago, I received...

    The "Other" Carter Hall

Just a followup... Got a second pouch of CH, and the pouch and tub contents look identical to me. Feel and smell are identical. However, the pouch 'baccy' still smokes less harsh and bitter than the tub contents (now dried pretty well), yet not as smooth as the first pouch.......{scratches...

    The "Other" Carter Hall

I tried an earlier tip, and put a small amount to bake at 170 degrees for 30 minutes. That's certainly an improvement, but still fairly pungent. There's some sweetness coming through, but still not anything like the pouch. More dry than straw, and crumbles easily, but with a light tamp, it...

Smoke for Breakfast - Let's Talk About Blends to Start Your Day

CH (solo) was just fine for me, until I recently got a tub of the stuff. Now, I'm back to a home blend that is about 50% Russ' Old Glory, less than 10% CH from the tub, with the remainder divided more-or-less evenly between BCA, Sutliff Choc Mousse, and Russ' Spring Training. I keep this...

Truly gorgeous! Deserves to be put in a glass case somewhere.... ....at my house!

    The "Other" Carter Hall

I've been an aro smoker for all of my adult life. Recently, I kept getting a hankering for a little more tobacco flavor. After much reading of reviews, I ordered a pouch of Carter Hall. Although there seemed to be much discussion of Burley Bite, the reviews of CH made it sound quite mild and...

    Edgeworth Red

Yep....old thread, I know, but I just stumbled across it. I smoked a lot of the Gold pouch when I was a poor college kid, and more when I was an even poorer Air Force captive. I don't recall ever trying the Brown, Blue, Red, or Green. I was too in love with the nutty caramel flavor of the Gold...

Jim's Lane Vanilla Black Cavendish Review.

I mix VBC (or BCA) with Carter Hall....roughly 20/80, and I get something that I think Captain Black Original was trying to be....a nice vanilla flavor that doesn't lose its tobacco taste....something that I just never was able to find in CBW. Although, I can't really recommend mixing CH and CWB...
