    Indeed. Clutching at straws here really. Not too hot and not too fast. Tobacco is dry. I can taste the difference between most French reds and whites. I can taste just about everything from saffron to anchovies. Coffee needs to have milk to get a taste but that’s the only anomaly I can think of.

    Thank you. All good points but what if the only thing you can taste is “tobacco”. ie. No flavour at all. Does this come over time?

    Update: Bleeding helps. It now starts like a flame thrower each time. Burns out quickly. No flame control. Takes tiny amount of fuel to blast out flame. Still not found o ring. What does the o ring do?

    I’m trying aromatics at the moment but started out with Dunhill Night Cap and Dunhill Flake (Charatan). Yes not too hot. Yes all other tastes intact. Clean pipe new 999 and old 416 Petersons.

    Thanks. We have taken one step forward and I now get a sensible flame. No regulator though. Proper flame but I can’t control increase or decrease. Could it be the small o ring?
