An article in the December edition of The Pipe Collector mentioned that Paul Bonacquisti was closing his shop (Parklane). When I was traveling, the New York Thruway that was one of my regular stops and a great shop. Can anyone local confirm this?

Paul is a great pipe maker. Not sure if he’s still making pipes though.
I don't think he has for many years. He had a small sandblasted Rhodesian in his case that I looked at several times over a 2-year period. I kept hedging, (think it was $250 or so) and one day it was gone. Matthew Hayes (JB Hayes/Winchester) once mentioned to me that he was going up to see Paul and learn how to make pipes, they never coordinated schedules.

Unfortunately, i surmise you are right. I haven’t seen any of his pipes for a number of years, except on the estate market. I have a big early “Bonaquisti” sandblasted apple that smokes great and lasts for an hour or more.
