Peretti 333 in a cob. A burley with a hard to place casing/topping and a subtle cocoa note. It’s a little floral, I’ve read in reviews in might be coumarin and or deer tongue. If it’s deer tongue it’s not the actual leaf and if you despise it like me I wouldn’t avoid Peretti as it doesn’t taste like actual deer tongue. It’s the second Peretti blend I’ve tried and both have been singular in character. IMG_5472.jpeg

Dozed off for a few minutes thanks to Sleepy Suzy on my lap, but I'm awake and smoking Sam Gawith Commonwealth in a medium bend 2001 Ural lattice Rhodesian with a yellow with white swirls acrylic saddle stem. Been thinking about taking a couple of briars that I'm not using and dedicating them to English blends.

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and have passed the half way mark of this bowl of year 2016 Sutliff 507-C Slices in a straight smooth brown 1950s-mid ‘60s (GBD) Rozier San Francisco 9240 squat bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Three Smokes from Two Days Ago - killing three birds with one post. All, to me, very interesting smokes:

IMGP6658FalcSavOPT.JPG

Started off mid-day with my meer-lined bowl (mounted) on my Bent-Falcon. It's dedicated to Backwoods Buttered Rum, my hands down favourite of the breed. Had the usual superb smoke.

A couple of hours later, I thought it would be interesting to try the same tobacco in my almost broken in Savinelli Bing. I'd been coxing it along with dark cavendish tobaccos. It's a sipper, a company pipe, and it has a very generous capacity. Glad I gave the Backwoods Buttered Rum a try in this great pipe. It matched the nuances of the meer bowl - a definite winner! A pair of aces! I won't hesitate to smoke this tobacco in the Sav in a social situation - and I'll get a nice, long smoke. I find the Backwoods product to be full and rich, without the drop off about 60% the way through the smoke, like most flavoured aromatics.

Earlier that day, my new Falcon Bantam Bowl arrived, so having the Falcon frame out, I stoked the bowl with my just hot off the press "Gord's Bargain Basement English", as this will be my at-home Falcon bowl for English Tobaccos. Had the usual and expected not noteworthy break-in smoke. I'll try the bowl with Balkans as well before committing.

Interesting pair of smokes this evening - will report on them tomorrow. :)

Cheers.

Soothing my tongue with Sutliff 515-RC1 in a Mountbatten No.9

Man o' man! Had some Kettle Brand Habanero Lime potato chips and WOW! was this batch ever HOT! OMG! Wife and I both were only a couple chips in and I literally had to rub an ice cube on my tongue! The infamous MB Virginia No.1 has -nothing- on these chips. I am happy to report this Sutliff Red Carolina is a balm. Puff, and "Ahhh..."

Have a Sav Bing, But I don't consider its bowl to have a "generous capacity."

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am almost half way through this bowl of year 2018 D&R Windsail in a smooth straight family era 1950s Barling 313 T.V.F. EXEXEL pot with a black ebonite saddle stem. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Been enjoying quiet reading time.
