    Thank God for CO2 Detectors

Very scary... glad to hear the alarm did its job and you all made it out safely. This post has inspired me to put the batteries back in our smoke/CO detectors! (I got fed up with the kitchen one always going off whenever I make toast...)

I Can Finally Display My Pipes Again

Nice display! A storage tub is no place for such a fine collection of pipes and paraphernalia. Are those labels printed, or is that your own handwriting on them?

    My Grandpa's Pipe

Thanks for sharing! That's a good looking pipe and you did a great job with the restoration. If only everyone could be so lucky to have had a grandpa like yours AND have their pipe to remember them by.

Which no longer produced tobacco blend do you or will you miss the most?

Honestly I hadn't tried any Mac Baren blends until I heard the news, and I ended up really liking Scottish Mixture and 7 Seas Regular. I planned ahead and stocked up on both after only a few smokes, though.

    Major Mess-up

Love the story that these two back-to-back comments tell. "Fuck it, I'LL be the one to say it!"

    What Were Your Go-To Tobacco’s in 2025?

Sutfliff Sweet Virginia, same as the year before. Runner up was probably Stokkebye Peaches & Cream.

    What are You Reading Now?

Listening to the audiobook version of this one. Fantastic narration by Taron Egerton (who played Elton in the Rocketman film) really brings it to life.

How Do You Store a Lit Bowl

I usually set it somewhere for a few minutes so it can cool before putting it in a pouch. I would also recommend buying a couple of the small metal wind-screens that cover the bowl. I've found these to be great for keeping tobacco contained if I'm loading a pipe to take with me on the go. They...

What is your Favorite Christmas Blend?

I just had some Boswell's Christmas Cookie for the first time the other day and was pretty impressed. Prior to that, the only other holiday-themed blend I had tried was Sutliff Christmas Spice which is also quite good.

    Taking My Leave

We didn't interact much, but I always appreciated your terse no-nonsense responses here on the forum and your knowledge of the hobby. I'll never forget the photoshopped image of the guy shrugging with his face superimposed on his palms. Take care, Embers.

    Forum Numbers

I've felt this exact same sentiment and it's why I hardly post on here. I'm always "too late to the game" with new threads and feel my thoughts/input have probably already been covered. As an aside: why are people constantly resurrecting years-old threads on here? Don't replies get disabled at...

Cellar Noob PSA: Bulk vs. Tins vs. Jars

I like it! What's your setup like? I just got back into record collecting and bought a Fluance RT85. I'm really liking it so far.

Cellar Noob PSA: Bulk vs. Tins vs. Jars

Amen to that! Most of my cellar is bulk blends... I feel like I specifically avoided exploring a lot of tin-only blends for the sole purpose of saving money in this hobby. Haha. Once I get my cellar to the stockpile I want, I'll branch out a little and try some tin blends more often. Now, let's...

    Low Nicotine pipe tobacco

Look for cavendish (black or gold) in the ingredients. That will be a good indicator that a blend is low nicotine. Also avoid Latakia and Perique as those can increase the nicotine content of a blend quite a bit.

How Do You Organize Your Tobacco Cellar?

Mine is broken up into two different sections. I have my tobacco and pipe cabinet, which has about 100 or so pint jars of different blends that I smoke regularly. The bulk of my cellar is stored in the little closet under our stair landing. Right now, I have mostly everything in 64oz jars, which...
