Any Love For The Boer Shape? Show Them Here!

I would love to see the Stromboli version, if you're able to show it.

Any Love For The Boer Shape? Show Them Here!

The other images above flirt with the idea of the boer, but a true boer has it's shank connected closer to the top of the stummel than to the bottom. @huntertrw - this very crude drawing shows how the boer drilling is done. It's a pretty severe angle from the very top of the mortise at the...

Any Love For The Boer Shape? Show Them Here!

Huge fan of the boer. I have the Wally Frank Collector (from that 1939 ad above), as well as 2 others (of the same shape...different finishes), and then boers by other brands. Excellent smokers. They are definitely a departure from "standard" pipe shapes, but I love'm.

    'New' Vintage Dr. Grabow Pipes

Based on the calendar and PTO days, I don't believe I'll personally be making the trip to Sparta again this year. Likely Spring for me to organize one.

    'New' Vintage Dr. Grabow Pipes

I organized a tour of the Grabow factory which just happened in June. The GM was willing to do it on a day that their factory machinery was not in operation. We still got to go thru the entire place, and then had the opportunity to buy new / old stock stuff in the back room. I'll likely...

ISO Dr. Grabow Continental Series X Pipes (1959)

While certain lines of the Continental X-Series (including Westbrook, Emperor, Sculptura), were initially only available through redeeming coupons, other lines (including Viscount, Starfire, Eldorado) were sold via retail without coupons.

ISO Dr. Grabow Continental Series X Pipes (1959)

Having much more than a single set of 12, and having refurbished likely 100 or more Continentals...very few are found in "unsmoked" condition today. The Continental prototypes were made in 1959 after Gracen Lucas and Jimmy Jones evaluated pipes from around the world, then designed and made...

Dr. Grabow in my Collection, At Last

I was just up in Sparta 3 weekends ago, visiting the man responsible for the Grabow Uniques (1959/60) and the Grabow Continental shapes (1960 - 64). He's still kicking and smoking a pipe. I used to organize yearly tours of the Grabow factory until they shut that opportunity down several years...

    Anyone recognize this stamp?

It's a shame to not know who made your pipe. There are a LOT of small time pipe makers who do get their own trademarking tool made, but they don't receive enough recognition to make it to Pipedia, Pipephil, nor to be discussed on forums. That pipe sure looks nice though.

    Linkman’s Grabow Question

I disagree with 1945 - 55. Grabows made after 1944 were not stamped with the Linkman name. Your pipe has 1930's written all over it, despite the missing information. The custom 'propeller' (which were often so custom that you'd think someone used a hatchet to cut it in) and the linkman...
