    Take an extra long bristle pipe cleaner, tie one end to something and charge with Flitz - insert into stem and slide the stem back and forth on the pipe cleaner, rotating as you do so. If that doesn't work try a clay saw from either end.

    You still have threads in whatever material was used. The first thing I would try is to drizzle thin CA on / into the material to stabilize / strengthen it. Clean up the stinger and see how it fits. If that works you're home free - if not, no harm, no foul... If that doesn't work, you're...

    That's exactly what I do with all my meers - I was fortunate to be able to pick up the correct taps on fleabay a few years back, so I flood the threads with CA and then re-tap them...

    Hole re-enforcers for notebook paper from the office supply. They come in paper and Mylar - two different thicknesses, so you can mix and match then as shims to get the right thickness. They slip right over the tenon and do the job.
