    They used to throw clay pipes (which are much more fragile than meer) into the fire to clean them. Ghosts, foul tastes, or odors are caused by volatiles - heat helps to drive them out...

    In a case like that, I put CA on the internal threads, let it cure and run a tap through the threads to stabilize and re-enforce the threads in the meerschaum.

    Drop of water in / on the dent then flash steam with a preheated soldering iron. You can also use a hypodermic needle to make microscopic holes in a stubborn dent before steaming to get better penetration.

    If you really want to not use synthetic products (they use glue at MM) - try some egg white... Or perhaps pine pitch (if you are into smoking christmas trees...) Or harvest some gutta percha from a rubber tree... Or shelac - after the alcohol evaporates all you are left with is Lac shit...

    Egg white - you can fill in small gaps with a mixture of meerschaum dust and egg white (the old recipe calls for eggwhite and chalk, but that was when chalk was mined and not synthetic)

    Glad you got it out. Don't tell anyone, but I have been known to soak the threads inside the stummel with CA and then clean them up withthe proper tap - might just help your crack.

    Not so much a system as the demands of geometry. I have several meers drilled like this - one large drilling for the mortis and an angled drilling to get to the bowl. Nice conversion BTW!
