Best Pipe Wax Available? (In Canada)
Carnuba comes in hard bar form, the hardness is what gives it the ability to stay shiny. Avoid using it on textured pipes as it builds up in crevices. Think I picked mine up from Lee Valley. A buffing wheel (cloth) at lower speed on a Dremmel or bench buffer works well. Paragon or Halcyon II...- bigjoe

Why List a Pipe That's Sold?
Smokingpipes still has them buried on their site but the price is removed and they don't come up through normal search. I've found sold out items via Google when looking for a specific model. Seeing the old price would be nice.- bigjoe

Those New Mcclelland Prices
I stopped in at my local Canadian shop the other day. Prices were almost the same, a little more for some blends. I chatted a while about it, they were completely aware of the McClelland situation and weren't jacking up the prices at least.- bigjoe

An Examination of Headspace in Erinmore Tobacco
Headspace could be referring to the vapors/odors trapped in a tin, but since it mentioned 1oz packages (cardboard and waxed paper from the pictures) its probably vapors collected from the top of a sealed sample container that is slowly heated with the tobacco in it. If I Like Gaslight I'll Should Also Try?
Gaslight reminds me of hanging out by the rail yards or taking the train places when I was a kid. I find its smokeyness has an old industrial quality that I like. Can't think of much else quite like it, but C&D Pirate Kake with a cup of coffee was similar.- bigjoe

Canadian ordering from the USA, the TAX man got me.
400% or so mark up over US prices is about average for the few B&Ms around me that carry pipe tobacco, and they have a much more limited selection. As long as the taxes are correctly applied it still comes out about even or cheaper to order. I still visit shops now and then when I want something...- bigjoe

You don't need a lung full to get the scent, just long enough to get a little into your sinuses. I find it can really bring out flavors.- bigjoe
