i need more regular plum pudding in my life. I made the mistake of smoking it when I was just starting out and it was too rough for me. i recently tried it again along with Wildman and now with a refined pallet I really wish i had bought more. Wildman especially is a great smoke for those cool summer nights. plum pudding is great for winter and Christmas.

Arango Balkan Supreme is a close distance 3rd. I have a couple ounces I may press into a cake. Might make it better.
I don't really find Balkan Supreme to be anything close to Plum Pudding myself... but I think that's because I (along with many others) don't find Plum Pudding to really be a Balkan style blend in the first place. At least not in the traditional sense...

Balkans tend to have a base of Bright Virginia while leaning heavily on the Latakia and Orientals/Turkish... essentially fuller flavored English blends.

For a replacement, personally, I would focus on using Red Virginia (Probably including C&D's Red VA Cavendish), Latakia, and Perique with Orientals in backup. This is why you can see it in the color itself... PlumPud tends to have a fairly monochromatic Mahogany hue while even the richest of traditional Balkans tend to look like a multicolor confetti mix.

any idea on how to buy a tobacco press or make one for forming the plug? i just ordered 4 oz of C&D Super Balkan to give it a try.
Some folks have purchased a noodle press from Amazon and had good results. I made one from a 2” ID PVC coupling, wooden spacer disks, parchment paper and C-clamps and had great success. You should be able to Google that DIY to get the full rundown. I also made a rectangular press that takes about 8 ounces of loose ribbon and presses into a cake. I used scrap oak, screws, and an Irwin bar clamp. How to videos can be found on YouTube for the last press.

Edit to include: The one above ☝️

I have tried the noodle press for $15 off Amazon and had great success with it. Much easier than the PVC version, but that works too. I have also tried the "wooden box" and vice/clamps method that makes nice square/rectangular cakes and plugs without investing too much. Just make sure you line both types with parchment paper for easy release and to keep the mess under control. Have fun with it!
