I’m inherited my father’s collection of around 200 pipes, mostly from the 1960s.
I’m up to my ears learning about them and having fun familiarizing myself with the community!
I’ll ask questions as I go.
Here are the French ones I’ve identified so far- Butz-Choquin, P. Viou, Ropp, and a Chacom. View attachment 418026View attachment 418027View attachment 418028View attachment 418029
Lots of pretty and shapes in that second photo. What's your plan with all your dad's pipes?

I’m going to sell them. Right now Im cataloguing them, and I’m doing a lot of research to see if I can ascertain which ones have better resale value & get those professionally cleaned and I’ll consign them most likely.
The less important, more inexpensive pipes I’ll see if I can sell myself through Ebay.

That's a good plan. I'm not sure if you've reached out to any of the resellers but there's a lot of good options. Let us know if you need help getting pointed in the right direction.

You should also consider the two main approaches that the resellers have:
  1. You sell the pipes to them for cash at roughly 50% of what they value each pipe at.
  2. You consign the pipes to them. They sell the pipes for what they get for them. (My limited experience is that the reseller tell you the normal price and the minimum price they're willing to take for each pipe.) They will then give you a percent (some are higher than others so ask around) of the net profit.
Option 1 is fast and easy but you won't get the highest return. Option 2 is the opposite, slow but higher returns.

If you really want to maximize your return you can send the pipes to reseller, see their offer, send it to another, see their offer, and continue this with as many as you're comfortable with. Again more time consuming but you can then see which reseller will give you the best return either with consigning or selling of each specific pipe.

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it!

Here to begin with the introduction of the Fleur Virgin AAA made by Pierre,
the briar tray chosen by him and which will be used to shape the pipe.
To shape a Virgin you need quality briar, AAA is Straight Grain. I'll let you
admire part of Pierre Morel's workshop.

Here is the finished pipe, enhanced with a horn length and a Cumberland stem, I let you admire the beauty of the sandblasting.
