They are definitely great. I'd suggest trying out Rattray's as well.
Although some would argue, I think C&D is probably the current king of "Old-Belt" styled Virginias but primarily in their Limited batch series offerings. These have the benefit of stating the age/crops of which leaves are used so you can see how age (many people forget the leaves are aged before they even get tinned) affects the different types of leaf you gravitate towards.
The boutique blenders like Ken Byron and Watch City also come out with decent Viriginia flakes. While the lack of subsidies for tobacco planting is an issue (one of the reasons McClelland sold) it doesn't mean that quality Virginias that can stand alone no longer exist.. just that they've become more scarce. While many people don't enjoy the limited edition nature of everything today (I'm one of them lol) it does serve the purpose of being able to still produce quality examples of a product that is no longer as in demand as it once was.
