ahhha My problem is I don’t like smoking alone, and when it’s in a group i’d prefer to talk about the tobacco and non controversial topics
frankly compared to other groups that meet online, pipe smokers seem down right agreeable, minus a few weird exceptions that are often remembered years later after they get kicked off the forum for their inability to not be jerks.

Ah nice! I’m totally down to meet online this sounds like a great way to connect virtually if we have other obligations and makes it flexible too! I totally get the whole jerk thing too

i am ☺️ assuming this happens a lot?
With that member it does haha

Welcome! Don't worry, there is still good tobacco to be found.
I highly recommend cellaring as much as you can of what you find you adore for the future... but it is definitely not the case that all blends worth enjoying are already extinct.

They are definitely great. I'd suggest trying out Rattray's as well.
Although some would argue, I think C&D is probably the current king of "Old-Belt" styled Virginias but primarily in their Limited batch series offerings. These have the benefit of stating the age/crops of which leaves are used so you can see how age (many people forget the leaves are aged before they even get tinned) affects the different types of leaf you gravitate towards.

The boutique blenders like Ken Byron and Watch City also come out with decent Viriginia flakes. While the lack of subsidies for tobacco planting is an issue (one of the reasons McClelland sold) it doesn't mean that quality Virginias that can stand alone no longer exist.. just that they've become more scarce. While many people don't enjoy the limited edition nature of everything today (I'm one of them lol) it does serve the purpose of being able to still produce quality examples of a product that is no longer as in demand as it once was.

Sometimes they are wrong! Enjoy every day brother!
I've made my peace with it, a familial defect. Already in decline from it but I'm okay with it. I've been preparing myself for it for a very long time.
