I did a search for “very mild” strength tobacco on SP. It turned up two pages. All are aromatic blends, except for Carter Hall which is a burley blend. It might be fun to try a few. Good luck with your predicament.

Hi everyone.
I've been smoking a pipe, more "off" than "on" since 1969.
I still have three pipes from that era plus a Peterson's, which I bought around 30 years ago and have also recently purchased a Tsuge System pipe, though I've discovered that the filters are not available in the UK.
However, I have a problem since I've restarted smoking. The nicotine in the tobacco has become an unwelcome stimulant and I'm suffering from the effects, which never bothered me before.
If I have a pipeful, even in the morning, I have a very restless night's sleep and I feel wide awake.
I'm currently on Peterson's Early Morning Blend and even though that is supposed to be mild it's too much for me.
Can anyone recommend a quality low nicotine blend that I could get on with, preferably available in the UK?
Many thanks.
Here you go.

I gotta agree with some here... while the easy answer is Cavendish (the steaming process takes most of the appreciable nicotine away, making it a very mild tobacco in both flavor and strength) it sounds like there may be more to the problem.

As others have said tho, it's also true that while there are relatively "low nicotine" blends... most pipe blends are low nicotine relative to other tobaccos/ingestion methods like cigars and especially cigarettes or dip. If dipping tobacco is like the "smoking crack-rock" of nicotine consumption then smoking a pipe of nearly any blend is like just drinking coca-tea, lol. I'm a pretty nicotine sensitive individual when it comes to these other forms of ingestion.. if I have a 6mg zyn pack I may even puke lol. And smoking a bowl of even the stoutest blends (with constant retrohaling as is my method) will barely effect me beyond a pleasant buzz.

Add in that you say you can smoke a bowl in the morning and be restless still at night time... I feel there's gotta be more going on here. Nicotine is a drug and like any other it has whats known as an "elimination half life" which dictates generally how long its effects will last in your body. Nicotine's is 1-2 hours. It can actually fully leave the body within many individuals to undetectable levels within a 24 hour period.. very fast compared to even most other psychoactive compounds. (This is why cig fiends need one every hour or so and go through at least a pack a day)

Unless you have a genuinely rare allergy, I'd respectfully submit there's gotta be something more at work here than just the chemical nicotine...

Read @jJmInks reviews on Tobaccoreviews. He will mention if the blend are high, low or medium in nicotine.
He suggests Sutliff Molto Dolce has low nicotine TASTE. I wonder if that's the same as LOW NICOTINE. Or maybe lotsa nicotine but little TASTE. I guess I don't know what nicotine TASTES like?

Doesn’t matter, that blend is no longer available.

If I don't smoke my pipe I sleep like a log.
I've only recently restarted smoking. I love the contemplative side of pipe smoking and I'm keen to go through the process once again. However, a few years of not ingesting any nicotine is playing havoc with increased heartbeat and staying awake since I've started smoking again.
Unless I can find a very low nicotine based pipe tobacco then I shall be knocking it on the head.
It's true what they say, nicotine is a stimulant and when you haven't smoked for a while the effects are very much heightened.
I'd also add that it's around 25 years since I last smoked so my tolerance is very low. It's like being injected with nicotine.
Now in my mid seventies I just want some mellow pipe time with as little "kick" as possible.

My 'outside-the-box" suggestion whenever this question comes up is to have a sugary drink or treat before/when you're smoking. I don't know the science behind it, but sugar greatly limits the affects of nicotine in the system.

Sutliff's Molto Dolce is low in nicotine and is a very goopy but flavorful aromatic. Sutliff is no longer in existence, but STG is still making it under its bulk name of Creme Brulee.

Isnt everyone aware that the bulk of those low nicotine blends merely use a massive amount of sugar to hide the nicotine on you

Cavendish and Latakia are processed so much, unless they are adding nicotine back into the leaf or it's being paired with other high nicotine components, it's mostly processed out.

Perhaps the pipe or tobacco isn't the cause of your restless nights. Do you drink 35 cups of coffee a day or a cup in the evenings. As we get older caffeine can cause a lot of sleepless nights.
Good question but I have a couple of cups of coffee in the morning and after midday I always drink decaffeinated.
The problem is clearly the pipe.
As previously mentioned, I normally sleep like a log but if I smoke my pipe I start to feel the effect towards the end of the smoke and I'm slightly "elevated" for the rest of the day. After all, I have a foreign chemical inside me, albeit a small dose.
I then have a restless sleep. I'm conscious whereby my mind is awake/aware, more aware of my heartbeat, and just have difficulty settling. In other words, nicotine as a stimulant is doing its job.
I'm pretty fit. Can easily cycle up the hills and jog a bit.
I have good stamina. In June I did a 3500 mile solo tour on my motorbike around Europe in a fortnight, so I'm hardly sedentary.
I've only recently started pipe smoking again so it will be no problem at all to stop.
I can only think that all you hardened smokers have built up a good tolerance to nicotine.
With my system being totally nicotine free, the "hit" is far more intense...... and so, I'm searching for a "weak" blend that I can enjoy.....and sleep well.
