Currently enjoying some of my Va/Per mixed with Haunted Bookshop Cake 50/50 in the Peterson Dracula 106 billiard. It’s a great night here, and I’m enjoying the moment. Helps that I have had a little Maker’s Mark.View attachment 420081
Hey @Goblin_Walrus , it really IS a perfect evening, in Fort Worth as well. Ha ha, bourbon always helps! -- I may have to grab me some Rye after I finish my current smoke and coffee. Cheers mate! 🥃

I’d rather have rye! It’s a good night for a little tipple and a smoke out on this windless, balmy evening. Cheers bud! 🥂

Capped off a hectic week with a first time try of C&D Briar Fox in my main all-purpose cob, a MM Dagner Poker. Although I've always considered myself a millennial codger, I may have to wait until I'm sporting a forest full of grey chest hair before trying this kind of blend again. Or when my Social Security checks start arriving, whichever comes first last. 6/10

Bird report: House finch, California scrub-jay, California towhee, California quail, Lark sparrow (first time sighting!), Mountain chickadee, Bushtit, Northern flicker, Band-tailed pigeon, American crow, Steller's jay, Red-tailed hawk, Hairy woodpecker, White-breasted nuthatch, and Spotted towhee. I also ran into the local ornithologist at the nearby market yesterday. He's 86, and can hold a conversation quite admirably. You don't meet many folks like this anymore...'twas an encounter to relish!

Going to try and enjoy some peace and quiet this weekend, which is seemingly about as lofty a goal as winning the lottery. But hey, stranger things have happened...

(philosophical post)
A sunny September day — the leaves are only just starting to turn yellow, though most remain green, and there’s something unique in this moment of transition. I packed my RMC Marylebone into a Peterson Sherlock Holmes Lestrade (dark smooth) — a fitting companion for the season. Beside me is my little princess — my Jack Russell — still tirelessly trying to catch a mouse, as if the chase itself were her purpose. Watching her, I can’t help but think: perhaps that’s what autumn really means — the beauty of striving, even when it’s in vain. A pipe, the bright sunlight, the leaves on the verge of change, and a small four-legged philosopher reminding me that every moment carries its own weight.
