Passing the last third of this bowl of year 2014 E-soterica Tilbury in a straight smooth Danish gold straight grain undated W.O. Larsen Hand Made in Denmark dublin with a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. I'll end the day with this smoke.

Couldn't sleep, so I put out some dry food for Harry the Hairy, and brought Daisy the Feral Princess in to eat wet food. Tomato the Brave is still snoozin' on the couch. I'm smoking Wilke No. 72 in a pre-1974 dark brown straight Larus & Brother Co. Signature billiard with a nickel band and a tapered black vulcanite stem with the initials LCR on the top of the stem. This blend was smoked by Walter Cronkite. Sleepy Suzy was sleeping on my chair, and is by my side now. Watching the original Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. Loved this show when I was a kid.

👍🏻 Beluga is definitely not a bad choice — it has its place.
In the US, Beluga = marketing + the image of “Russian luxury vodka,” with taste and quality a bit above average, though not outstanding.
In Russia, the selection is richer: Beluga isn’t really seen as the “benchmark,” more as an export brand. For the domestic market, there are vodkas that are both cleaner and more interesting.
There are cleaner and more interesting options. For example, Putinka (in its premium versions) — 😁politics aside, it’s often rated higher than Beluga in terms of organoleptic qualities.
As a lifelong denizen of Kentucky, and an early admirer of bourbon, I cringe at the contemporary bourbon fancier world of the past decade+.
I’ve long admitted to myself that it’s all marketing and subjectivity. Taste..
Rating a bourbon.. or vodka/cigar/pipe tobacco, it’s all subjective for the individual.

An actual Russian with an actual Russian accent brought a bottle of vodka that he said was his favorite- I enjoyed it. It’s not often I hang one on before noon anymore.

I always do a double take for this one.. something about that slight (shadow?) bow to the shank and stem.

For me- Steamworks in the Barling Straight Grain via James J Fox Co.
