Alright I do enjoy dating and identifying Petes, but sometimes I just hit a wall…

This is what I am working with and I have been rereading the same 7-8 articles saying it could be a 1899-1970 pipe. Now I have had multiple English and Irish stamped pipes from the later part of this range, go through my hands and this one doesn’t feel similar at all. Do you guys see any indications for very early production date? Also indications proving the opposite would be as important.

with the block type made in England and the early type P in Peterson,i would guess pre war, possibly pre 1930s.
the fact it is grade 0 also puts it at least pre republic.
awaits a Pete geek to give more accurate dating :)

Congrats on another great find! You gotta post these in the Pete thread; those guys would be all over the dating of this immediately.

About a year ago I had a question on one of my Peterson’s and I sent pictures and an inquiry to Peterson at: Peterson of Dublin Customer Service < shop@peterson.ie > they were very helpful in answering my questions.
I also thought about that but I just feel that would be annoying for them. If it's just one question fine, but I tend to have a couple of pipes per week that need some figuring out. The 1080 for example , still nothing... Mark said he would check but nothing yet.

the 314 stamp confuses me the most, I know the shape existed since 1896, but from what I know it was the 20 and the 300s came along quite later, but the pipe is from the 40s 50s or 60s it should have one of the other englISh stars not the england one, unless it is an exception

I was recently trying to date an old shamrock and found that the
Made in
Ireland
Stamp denotes late 1940s.
Not sure it applies to all Petes, but it seems like it should.
