Now smoking year 2013 Capstan Gold Flake in a straight smooth brown Algerian briar post-WW2-mid 50s family era Barling’s Make Ye Olde Wood Special Made in England squat dublin with a tapered black ebonite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo.

Five Brothers in a Road Town Hand Made black sandblasted billiard with a long bamboo shank and a slightly bent acrylic flared saddle stem. This doesn’t have the open draw of the Eltang bamboo I have but it is wonderful pipe nonetheless.

A fantastic first-ever bowl of Reiner 71 LGF in a new-to-me estate Peterson SH Milverton. The 3g of lightly-rubbed flake smoked for well over an hour in this beautiful pipe and what started as tasty grew into downright delicious by the very end. Will be buying more to age a bit!

Drink is gin on the rocks with fresh lime.



Edit to add: The tobacco was good. The gin was good. The combination? Not so good.

Made in England EL billiard with a tapered black ebonite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Watching the Giants-Padres game with Sleepy Suzy by my side. Tomato the Brave came in eat, and after he came to me for attention, ran back to the kitchen for more food. Harry the Hairy's been inside all day and evening, and has been watching Tomato. Tomato isn't happy about that, and I expect him to leave after I post this smoke. He hates Harry. Daisy the Feral Princess has been on the deck all day even through the rain.

I got distracted, but this afternoon I enjoyed some ‘22 HOTW in a cool little pre-republic 314.
Gracie was busy trying to bite Bob’s face off. I swear they act like siblings two days into a three day road trip in the back seat of the family truckster…

Had a very enjoyable hour today with a cherry version of Three Friars in my home-made cob while helping my son collect golf balls from an abandoned golf course. The water trap was full of them. We even had a moose show up to see what we were doing.

Earlier, I smoked a bowl of several years old Dunhill Elizabethan in a straight smooth, dark brown patent era 1952 Dunhill Bruyere ODA apple 806 B124 with a black vulcanite tapered stem.


Currently, I'm smoking year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a 1984 medium bend black grain etched Savinelli Non Pareil 9310 pokerish dublin with a horn ferrule and a black vulcanite flared stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Now smoking Wilke Surbrug’s Golden Sceptre in a late 40s, early 50s straight black sandblasted Wagner British Thorn 495 (Comoy’s second) pot with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Haven't smoked this blend or pipe in a while so it was time to do so. A friend told me a while back that I should dedicate a pot to an English blend. It was good advice. Reading baseball box scores.
