Last Night's Smoke: entertaining smoke with a buddy from Vanderfoot, and fascinating story 4 U in
Skippable Drivel. But cutting to the chase, I had an excellent smoke, a tobacco new to me,
Arango Balkan Supreme, which I smoked in my beautiful
McQueen Russet in ashwood. I'm on an English roll right now, especially in the afternoons, when they are usually my go-to smoke. It's a fine tobacco, very similar to Brigham's English Mix, a bit less foreward and smoother, to my current palate at least
Skippable Drivel: John, a buddy of mine from the Fraser Lake area, paid an all too rare visit to me last night, bearing gifts. He recently visited the legendary Nathan, a bulk tobacco procurer from various places in the north, who had at the last holiday weekend performed a magic trick at the Vancouver border, and got in, according to the skuttlebutt, 84 kg of the product in one fell swoop. Hollow tires perhaps. I was wondering why some of my friends up here were smoking English. It's all they can get until Nathan's next magic trip, unless they can pay local outlets $60 - 100 bucks a package, which few of them can do.
I quite liked this tobacco, so while John most generously gave me a plastic baggie of Balkan Supreme, I took pity on him, and negotiated for 2+ ounces, giving him 3 small jars of various Smoker's Pride aromatics, which his system was crying out for, and I have in abundance. So I now have about the same amount of Arango Balkan Supreme as I do of Black Frigate and Brigham's English Mix, plus enough others to keep me happy.
So now you have a better idea of what is really happening in Canada. What is talked about casually is only part of it. And, if you are an old fart like me, you'd remember the old 1950s show, "Dragnet", starring Jack Webb. A great show whose introductory line was: "This is a true story. Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent."
Will catch up on thread posts later. Teaching day.
