Harris @cigrmaster passed in his sleep Tuesday Night. As many know, his health has been declining for some time. However, he was doing well when I saw him last about six weeks ago and his passing was sudden and unexpected. Harris leaves behind 4 really fabulous children and countless friends.

I've known Harris for 25 years. Oh the stories that could be told. Harris was larger than life, time spent hanging out was almost always epic. Harris was a big man physically with a huge heart, personality and presence. He loved his children dearly and was a very good father. Harris was highly intelligent and a shrewd businessman. If you were a friend, you could count on Harris having your back.

I will miss my good friend Harris and pray for the Good Lord to bless his soul and comfort his family at this time. Harris was only 65, we all should take a moment and consider there are no guaranteed tomorrows.
Condolences to you and his family. I too have one of those lifelong friends and their presence makes the world better. Rest in peace Mr Harris

The man bought 25 tins of Cabbie's in 2016, I read, thought his first tin "too young" and cellared the rest to sell for big money in 10 years time. Never made it, very sad.

I was gone from the forum for so long I wouldn't have known had this not been bumped. It's always a sad day when we hear of the passing of a fellow member of this forum. My condolences to the family, first and foremost, but I know some of the members knew him personally, so my condolences to you as well.
Weezel left us the same year.

Is anyone here keeping track of ex-forum members?

I worked for a large east coast newspaper for 21 years, and one of my former colleagues keeps a spreadsheet of those who hit their last deadline. Odd, but informative.
Nah, I just have a hard time forgetting anything I see or hear.

For the record, I too miss Harris. We also had the pleasure of chatting over the phone a few times and he was as funny and as sarcastic in person as his replies on this forum would suggest. There will never be another like him -- as a lawyer would say, he was truly sui generis. I will say that what I enjoyed most from our banter on this site is that Harris would often send me a PM to let me know that he had skewered me on a thread simply because he didn't want me to miss his witty response. I can only assume that all the folks in Valhalla are getting sick of his sarcasm by now and am hopeful that they may decide to send him back to us.

You perfectly described Harris as I knew him. One of the things I liked best about Harris, outside of him being a caring, generous, very loyal friend, was that he could dish it out, and loved getting it back. Not everybody could or would do that.

We talked on the phone a lot over the years. Never had a call that didn't end with a lot of laughter. I sure miss him.

If you didn't give it back to him, Harris wouldn't give you the time of day. That's why the two of us were such good friends. We had a great deal of mutual respect for each other and never let the verbal housing become personal.

I miss Harris, he was truly unique and special.
