Thank you for that. I made peace with family history years ago and don't mind the idea of it. At max it would be 56 years and that's more than enough for me.

You're obviously still consuming tobacco by other means. Why do you think you lost interest in pipes?
Mostly saturation aversion through online participation, pipes require very little thought when using them, and friendlier more like minded folks in the RYO crowd.
One thing pipe smokers love to do is overthink what they are doing. I guess by making it difficult it makes us feel we are doing something extremely special. Pipe smoking is a nice past time, but it isn't rocket science.
So you quit smoking pipes rather than quit what was causing you to dislike them?
Exactly and that started bugging me some time ago. You can pack them and light them and give them no more attention until you're finished.

Considering the millions of people in the western world that have shifted from tailor-made cigarettes to RYO due to taxes, I’m sure the RYO crowd is larger than the pipe-smoking crowd by an order of magnitude.But I have to ask…. there is a RYO crowd???
Probably just because of numbers overall, but there’s plenty of people who don’t RYO because they don’t want the hassle, cost be damned. My younger brother dabbles in RYO, but mostly just wants to open a pack and smoke. He won’t even touch pipes or cigars because it’s too much of a commitment.
