A third of the way through this bowl of year 2012 Dan Tobacco Treasures of Ireland: Limerick in a 2021 medium bend black sandblasted Peterson Newgrange 80S bent bulldog silver spigot with a tapered reddish brown, black striped acrylic stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Having smoked only Balkan Sobranie white back in the late 60's and early 70's, I was dismayed when recently returning to the pipe and discovering that my favorite blend is no longer.

So in my search for a replacement, I have tried ALL the attempted duplications and never found one that stirred the memory brain cells EXCEPT:

Sutliff's Balkan Sobranie Original Mix Match which was the first to remind me of the old days and is all I've been smoking recently.

Is it exactly the same? Of course not due to the lack of Syrian Latakia and what seems a different strain of Yenidje which lent a dry almost soda-like character to the original smoke although the Yenidje used in this blend seems to be of high quality.

To me spending astronomical money for a discovered 70s tin somewhere is Fools Gold. I am willing to bet even a well kept vacuum sealed tin of the original blend, would only be a ghost of it's former self due to age.

Sadly the Sutliff blend is now gone like the original, but can still be found with some searching if lucky...I hope I get lucky!

Expecting guests this afternoon, so had to do a little tidying up the smoke lounge this morning. Finally settling in with a bowl of new release Sansepolcro that showed up with yesterday's mail call. The rest of the morning coffee is the side show.

I have not had any of the previous renditions of Sansepolcro, but I am really enjoying this new release. What do you think?

Earlier, I smoked a bowl of unreleased 2021 Sutliff VaPer in a 2001 smooth full bend St. Patrick's Day Peterson 03 apple with a silver band and a tapered black vulcanite fish tail stem. Haven't smoked this pipe in quite a while.

Currently, I'm half way through this bowl of first production Watch City English Ernie-ental in a straight dark brown and tan rusticated Peterson 2023 Saint Patrick’s Day 264 Canadian with an Irish flag colored ferrule and tapered black acrylic stem. Watching the Braves-Phillies game. Hard rain came back, and I got the ferals inside except for Abner the Eager. Haven't seen him all day.
