Doesn't anyone drink Miller Lite or Jim Beam Bourbon any more? I'm feeling somewhat isolated, actually . . . . . .
I gave that stuff up years ago along with Cigarettes. No more Lucky Strikes, Stella’s or Glenlivet.
Im keeping the daily chew, pipes, coffee and occasional cigar.
That stuff will kill you man !

Lol well yeah kinda! I didn't get to smoke at all yesterday. I don't usually pre load pipes, but keeping an eye on my little one outside I don't like to run in the house to pack another. I just bring a couple loaded. My kids will play outside all day if I let em.
I completely get it.... They can get into so much in such a short period of time.
Glad you're feeling better and thanks for being a great dad!! It's not an easy job but it is such an important one...

Actually, I have, too. These were tastes from my rowdy past . . . before AD 2000, actually. Just surprised that these beverages never come up in posts. I do the same "diet" as you do. :)👍👍 Stopped smoking cigarettes in University, as well, where I did take up the pipe as a result of the fad started in John Belushi's "Animal House," whose frat scenes started a craze back then, as did the Tolkein movies to long stems. Always indulged in chew, though . . . good for concentration outdoors.

Gord, you and @PaulRVA, along with your "Spartan" lifestyles, provide huge examples for the rest of us to strive for. But, alas I do enjoy an occasional shot of bourbon to "clear the pipes." I never did smoke cigarettes but enjoy my pipe and a cigar occasionally. My great uncle, who passed away back in 1974, chewed tobacco. And I don't mean Redman or Skoal, etc., he chewed home twists of Burley that my cousins raised and when they were stripping and tying the leaves into hands, prior to taking to market, they would set aside some for Uncle Marvin. He could chew this stuff like candy. So, as a kid, I thought he made it look so good and begged him for some. Finally, he cut me off a small piece and he told me how to hold it in my jaw. To this day, I have never been so sick and so green as I was after that. So...... I have never chewed.

Well, finished my chores and here's a post on my outing and smokes, yesterday, with my buddy Mike. The weather was waaayyy to windy to go where we wanted - my 4x5 field camera would not have survived - enough sail area to be blown over and damaged, so decided to forego the foothills burns, which are gorgeous this time of year. Decided instead to just go to local Cottonwood park, near the confluence of the Fraser and Nechako rivers, in town. Just took my DSLR for a few snaps.

It was windy as all get out there, too, but we were somewhat protected until the wind changed direction. We both got in a pipe till then, while a crow watched from above:

I smoked the same MM Minicob as posted a couple of pages back, loaded, again, with Savinelli 140. And yes, it's excellence was noted again. I managed to pull a full 30 minutes out of this little sucker, and enjoyed it as much as I did last night. 'Buds coming back. Yessss!

Mike (who also likes longstems - he turned me on to cigars, and I turned him on to a pipe and gave him three McQueens I had duplicates of . . . . smoked a bowl of his usual buttered rum (or was it a cherry); can't quite remember. He sucks them up like a sponge, anyways . . .

I met Mike in 1998 when I won the Concertmaster/Assistant Conductor job with the PG Symphony. He was the recording technician for the PGSO, and we've been great friends ever since. He shares most of my interests, and always does his share of the work. Strong as a bull, he's great at lifting heavy stuff, too. We work well as a team with heavy, loaded zodiacs, and other outing paraphenalia.

Right after our pipes, the wind changed direction and started to howl. it actually blew that half filled coffee cup, a picnic sack, and also my entire travel kit, off the table. We had to shield each other to light up our cigars. I took a few more snaps before we went home (his house is just a few blocks from where I live), so it's also convenient for loading and pickup.

There was a few people at the park, including this couple walking their Corgi's:

The final snap is the bridge in the background, which is at the actual confluence of the Fraser and Nechako Rivers. Was going to take a shot from that bridge, but decided not to as the water was so high and roily, as you can see, that the shot wouldn't have shown the different colors and textures of the mingling systems. I will do so when the water goes down, late June or so. Have some winter pictures of the confluence, too . . . quite striking but "out of season" lol. The weather was also a bit dark, grey skies . . . not really photogenic.
