Relaxing after a wonderful salad, snapper and snow peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm smoking year 2012 E-soterica Dunbar in a smooth straight, dark brown 1960s Lane era Charatan Selected 43 Dublin with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. This pipe was formerly owned by actor William Conrad. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Watching the Braves-Padres game with Sleepy Suzy by my side. Daisy the Feral Princess finally woke up from her snooze to eat. Then, she laid down in the middle of the den, and stayed there until I let Harry the Hairy in to eat. She wanted out, of course.

After Harry ate and got a little of attention from me, he wanted out. I opened the door, he went out, and Daisy came right back in. Molly Danger is on m'lady's lap, and she had a watchful eye on Harry the Hairy. She's settled down now for a snooze. Daisy is by my feet after a little play time.

The classic simplicity & beauty of a black sandblasted pipe (!!!). As fine a black sandblasted pipe as I've ever seen.

Now finishing some Union Square in a Stanwell 62 Vario. No accolades for Union Square are "over the top".

It may be common knowledge around these parts, but I recently learned you could chew rope tobacco!

As a result, on the menu at Disneyland is a nice chunk of GH&Co Whiskey Twist loaded in my mouth while at Disneyland with my wife and kids.

Hope you all have/had a great Friday!

I've never tried rope tobacco, either in a pipe or as a chew . . . . I have my 3 favourite pipe tobaccos that I use as chews in order of preference: Sir Walter Raleigh, Smokers' Pride Classic and Smokers' Pride Whiskey. All, to me, are preferable to canned chewing tobacco, and cheaper too. All are quite delicious, especially SWR. I use them when shooting indoors, fishing or hunting. Glad that I'm not alone! Bravo! And that's a lovely family you have there, too! 😍

My interest in photography, and still doing the occasional portrait job, has led me to examine the pipes that guys on forum take selfies with. A lot photograph themselves with bents, and I'd use very few bents as props - they don't suite many faces, except longish ones. You picked a pipe that really suits you photographically. Just thought I'd mention it. If I was to stick you in front of a studio camera, that pipe would be my choice. Bravo! 👍 👍 It Works!! and is a beautiful little guy, too!

Between a near catastrophe with a windowpane, a breached garden fence, and a horse colic, it has been a mostly lousy week. Finished it off with a bowl of Stokkebye Evening Flake in a Stefano Rhodesian. Never happier to have finally arrived at an extended weekend! 9/10

Bird report: House finch, California towhee, California scrub-jay, American crow, Red-tailed hawk, Steller's jay, Northern flicker, Mountain chickadee, Western bluebird, Hairy woodpecker, Violet-green swallow, California quail, Anna's hummingbird, Spotted towhee, and White-breasted nuthatch.

Looking forward to some homemade falafel, tahini and pita bread for dinner. Hope everyone has a great weekend, and perhaps I'll see some of you at the Sunday zoom.

@tubbyninja1337 I totally dare you to smoke the whole rope on an empty stomach, down a few shots of tequila, and then go ride the teacups... 🤢 🤮 🤣

Thank you. The Dr. Grabow Royalton Bulldog is considered by some a crowning achievement for Grabow. Unfortunately, they no longer make this pipe. Of all the Royaltons, it was the most sought after. I had just ridden 200 miles through the Mohave Desert - one stretch is over 100 miles with no gas stations. Exhausted by the 100+ heat, I plopped down on the sofa in Laughlin for a White Russian and a smoke of this pipe.
