That much is obvious...no crystal ball necessary! This makes stocking up all the more urgent. Who wants to just sit around and wait for the hammer to come down, right?
I need to visit Germany and stockup. Sadly Finnish law allows you to bring only 250g of pipe tobacco.

In the "current government" row, shouldn't it say "fascism?" :ROFLMAO:

Not very subtle, I know, but as history shows, governments hardly ever thrived on subtlety.

Certainly puts our stateside issues in perspective...

Nice get.

I've been happily buying up known favorite C&D blends on there with 5-10+ years of age for a couple of bucks more than a fresh tin costs.
If one of those favorites happens to be Canal Boat, someone on Tinbids is selling a lot of four from around 2016, I think. Only about $10-12 bucks each at the time I saw it, although I don't remember how long the auction had left on it. The tins looked surprisingly devoid of the infamous C&D "bulge" for their age.

Its an idea taking so called tobacco trip to continental Europe or Baltic countries /Poland ,makes even better if you travel with one who does not smoke and could bring some extra purchase on behalf with you. Moreover, while staying abroad, you may wanna consider mailing some additional tobaccos to your own home address.

I wish I lived at Helsinki so I could take the ferry to Estonia.
Or live near our Eastern Border and take a trip to Russia.

Finnish prices are ridiculous. Currently smoking Mac Baren Classic Loose Cut, 38 € ($41.32) for 50g package (not packaged even in tins anymore...)

I do agree with You sir, over the past few year prices for tobacco products and especially these for pipe tobacco went skyrocket by unknown me reason.Perhaps this price increase is due to a fact that Finland has made a public announcement to become a smoke free zone till 2035.(which sounds ridiculous to me),soon or even today It might be reasonable to take a short overnight trip to nearby Sweden ,where pipe & RYO tobacco cost considerably less than here with us,or as the old saying goes ,''where there is a will there's a way

I've been scooping up the Haunted Bookshop and Union Square.

Some bulge, some do not. What do you think of that?
Just the luck of the draw, I guess. Personally, I don't mind the bulge, so long as it doesn't adversely affect the stackability of the tins. I also (theoretically) dread them popping like an M-80 in the wee hours of the night. That'd scare the hell out of me.

Union Square is some good :poop:!

Haaparanta/Haparanda is about two hour drive from where I am from. I could take the long distance bus and buy some; somehow I feel they won't check if somebody brings plenty of pipe tobacco lol

Maybe bring a friend who you can help out similarly with a different vice? You bring back a bottle of something local for him and he can bring back a legally acceptable amount of fine tobacco for you.

Sounds like a good idea. However, the amount of alcohol you can bring is quite high (10 litres of high proof for example) so that wouldn't work, but if I would be travelling with non-smoking relatives or friends it could work well.

Received the tins today...holy cow, what terrible packaging! No bubble wrap, not even any packing paper...the damn tins were just knocking around in a USPS med. flat rate box with a token slice of corrugated cardboard down the middle!! Miraculously, no dents or busted seals.

Just a warning to anyone ordering on TinBids--obviously not their fault (the individual seller fulfills the shipping, not TB), but you never know who is doing the packing. It's a roll of the dice as to whether or not they know what they're doing.

Man, that sucks. I wouldn't dream of packaging any of the pipes or tins I've sold that lazily. Nice score, though!

It amazes me how people can be so careless when sending packages in the mail. We all know that boxes get tossed and kicked around, smashed/crushed, and just beat up during shipping. The same person that shipped this package is probably one of those that would be the first to complain if one of his packages showed up, beat up or damaged. Just take the few extra minutes and package the goods the way you would want them to arrive to you. Some people are just plain stupid!!!

^^^^ THIS

I almost wish I had taken a picture of it. A blind, quadriplegic octogenarian with dementia could've done a better job, seriously. It also gave me a flashback of a notorious incident on this forum about a year ago, where a member received a package filled with mason jars...which were unwrapped. Glass and Margate everywhere. Instant, irreversible visual trauma. Like receiving a nude photo of Janet Reno. 😵
