If You Could Have Only One...

Ok, so here is the thinker for the day... if you had to choose one pipe and one tobacco blend to smoke for the rest of your life, what would you choose and why?

Maybe this is too childish a question, but being childish once on a while keeps your mind young!

I would choose either my Jesse Jones small free hand or my Doug Finlay freehand. There both both about 5-and-a-haf inches long. The jones pipe has a half-bend in it while the Finlay has a much more modest 1/8 bend to it. Both are wonderful smoker. For the tobacco I'd select G.L. Pease's Six Pence.

For the pipe, it's not "sexy" but my Rick Black Morta, sort of a Rhodesian/Bulldog hybrid. It smokes like a beast, and slightly resembles one. Rick doesn't carve anymore, and he really wasn't a well known carver - but I loved his work. Seems to fit parts of my personality.




For tobacco, I'd choose Frog Morton On The Town (still have a few tins in reserve). It's a smooth easy smoke that just satisfies.

It's my honest one. I love my pipes and tobaccos. But there isn't one tobacco that I've smoked over the past 50 years that would be my "one and only". The whole business would eventually become an annoyance.

So, yep, NADA.

Joking aside, that's really tough, but I'd go with my bent apple meerschaum with either Boswells Northwoods or PS Luxury Twist Flake. Might have to just flip a coin with those.

A small Danish lovat, with Acadian Perique or McCranies Red Ribbon.

That's a tough question to answer indefinitely, but I think I'd be happy with this setup and nothing else. Preferably both tobaccos - one Perique and one straight VA. Then I'd need no reason to long for anything else
