Here's the hypothetical:

Someone is listing a tin of a legendary tobacco, one that hasn't been in production for at least 40 years, but that tin has been opened, partially smoked, and now the contents are dusty. Tins of this tobacco rarely show up and when they do, usually sell for $400. What would you pay for such an opened tin?

I trash other empty, moldy, etc... tins so $0 here as well.
Other factors such as grandpa's favorite and I have/had none then ?? But that's hypothetical + hypothetical.

how many other tins like that are out there? What condition are those tins in? How much attachment do I feel to that particular brand? Basically how much does it mean to me? The tin is worthless unless it invokes something in you and then it can be priceless.

I don't smoke latakia as a rule, but I've been known to dally in some extreme cases.
A pipe club pal has a pouch of Balkan Sobranie from the late 80s I believe. He asked if I'd have a bowl when he opened it.
I'm pro-science so I accepted his offer and I'm even cautiously looking forward to it.

Now, if it turns out I really like it, I could see myself going as high as tree fiddy for it.
