Did a second set of walking reps on this incredibly brutal humid day. The heat from the sun dried up the rain from the thunderstorms and it's like a steam bath out there. Anyway, I'm nearly done with this bowl of year 2015 D&R A.B. Rimboche in an undated slight bend, smooth flame grain Wessex Standard egg with a brown accent on the black vulcanite saddle stem. Cable, internet and phone were out yesterday and today, but I'm back on line now, you poor devils! :)

I received my order from Country Squire and immediately loaded the MM Mark Twain Cob with PS Blend.
It is the mildest of the 3 Latakia aromatic blends : PS Blend, Hunter Creek, Northwest Trek per Jon David. It is Latakia forward with Black Cavendish and Virginia. The first exhale stung my sinuses but after that it is a very mild flavorful smoke. I was surprised to read it is not flavored, as about a third of the way down i noticed a creamy sweet taste like vanilla and molasses or maple but very, very subtle. The latakia is present throughout for a bit of spice but not heat. Also, its course cut and when i looked at the ash I could see each flake individually and they didn't turn to dust until I dumped them. Also when finished the bowl went out by itself and dumped clean ... no dottle. I think I will be getting this blend regularly as its very tasty.

Enjoying some gently rubbed out Mac Baren HH Burley Flake as I work on the prototype for a pipe stand I am building (and if it turns out well, will be a temporary stand until I build the real deal). Using some scrap birch ply from an earlier home project. The real version will have a drawer for storing pipe stuff (lighter, cleaners, pipe tool, etc.) and be made of mahogany, maybe ebony accents, and leather.

The McConnell's Red Virginia thread got me trying to make a 'premium' copy of the blend, I've started with a masterpiece (if I may say so myself and I encourage you to independently verify this claim!):

1/5 Carolina Red Flake
2/5 GH&Co Louisiana Perique
2/5 Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture

Sipping the Franken mixture in this gorgeous Tsuge Ikebana, it's got no bad angles, but this one shows off the birdeyes best:
