Major bite but for me it is on my soft palate. Sores and redness. All from a quarter bowl of PS Luxury Navy Flake. I stopped at a quarter because I just did not like it. To me it was sour apples... literally. Hay, grass and sour. Like freaking sour mash whiskey - ISH! So I dumped my fold and pack bowl and two days later I have sores on my soft palate. Fuck my life!!!! Smoking a Partagas Cigar now. I am done with the pipe until I heal up which may take at least a week based on the last time this happened

Have you had any other problems with either perique or virginias? It could be that the sugars in the virginia got too hot and combined with the moisture actually burned you. Perique has a very high ph which increases nicotine absorption in the mucus membrane, so that could be the cause of the sores as well.

It was kinda dry - definitely not wet - from bulk so i didnt dry it much and it may be the virginia that's tearing me up

If you suspect the Virginia is the culprit, I'd stay away from anything with a high sugar content and see if that helps.

No red Va in that, or I don't think. More than likely you just need to dry the heck out of it. Unless of course, you know you have an issue with Va.

My experience with the PS Navy Flake is that is a very strong hitter for me. Makes me cough. Lately I'm drying the crap out of it and mixing it with other things. I'm having good luck with this approach. I'm coming up with some nice tasting stuff that's very pleasant to smoke. But yeah the PS Navy Flake lets you know.

I have a couple ounces of 1Q and it did not bite me but I don't remember it being all that tasty either. I will give it another try when I heal up

I find LNF a bit hard on my tongue if It isn’t good and dry. I think I just push it too much tough because I’ve gotten used to smoking other more forgiving stuff.

I've been smoking "PS stuff" every day for years. You just picked one that doesn't agree with you.

The problem could be one of several things. Smoking too fast, smoking too much, smoking a bad pipe or smoking a rough tobacco. First off I recommend you stay away from Virginias and aromatics. Try some Sir Walter Raleigh.

I've had similar challenges with PS tobacco--both Virginia forward and burley blends. I just don't smoke them anymore.

Try Mixture 79...smooth, sweet, and cool.

I have experienced that, but wasn't clever enough yet to determine exactly what leaf was the culprit.
You'll heal up.
Then on to another genre.
I've never had it happen with an English blend.

Be sure you're not puffing too vigorously. A lot of folks overdo that and get bit. Meantime, explore the burley blends. It may just be the Virginia. I've alway found PS Luxury Navy Flake fairly mild, so maybe you have a sensitivity to something in the blend.
