If you haven't heard about Squid Game yet, it's a global phenomenon that's on Netflix right now. It is number 1 in something like every country you can get Netflix. Its always mentioned on the news, the cast was on The Tonight Show, and it dominates Netflix when I log in.

I watched a few moments of the preview, and well, I didn't find it appealing at all. I'd rather read at night.

Anyone else not riding the Squid Game train or is it just me?

If someone likes Squid Game, check out Alice in Borderland. It is a Japanese series that is a lot like Squid Games, except with a better storyline IMO and more of that Japanese surrealism that I find in their novels.

But, if you hated Squid Games then you most likely wouldn’t like it either.

The overdubbing in English is a lot better too.

The premise that these are critiques on capitalism is very strange to me. If someone has a bad day at work, they don’t die. I know it is supposed to be metaphors, but…. still the examples are overgeneralized. I enjoyed them at least a little for entertainment before I heard this.

Yellowstone is way better IMO.

Usually if the show or movie is dubbed over, the wife and I won't watch it. Too much to comprehend. However squid game was fantastic. The lips don't match the dub, and the close caption doesn't match either. But that show was great. We finished it before I even knew how big it was world wide.

I'll check out Alice in borderland now! Lol

I currently don't have Netflix, switched to HBOmax a couple of months ago. I'm cheap frugal, I only pay for one subscription at a time. When I get bored with HBOmax, I'll sign up again for Netflix and watch the programs that are newer.

Anyway, Squid Game looks interesting, I'll probably watch it sometime in the future.

All you need to know about Squid Game
Hilarious!! When I read Japanese fiction, they always mention things like a hamburger costing 5 million yen. I am always amazed that Japanese aren't having to carry around millions of yens in wheel barrows just to eat. Then when I saw on Squid Games that they were going to get like 45 billion, I used my most likely misunderstanding to calculate that they were risking death and their eternal souls for like... $515. puffy
