Yup, it sucks. We built a house several years ago. We sold our existing house sooner than our new house was finishes, so we had to move into an apartment and rent storage. Consequently we moved twice in four months. Good news, we were able to use the apartment’s trash bins to purge crap we decided that we’ll never use, so the second move was a little lighter…

Tell me about it. Good news, or Indiana house sold 2 days after being listed and for well above the listing price. Bad news, 4,500 SF and 20 plus years of accumulation of junk. Filled up one large dumpster to over following. Many trips to Goodwill. Many trips to two storage units. Moving next week, won't be so horrible since we've pared everything down to bare minimum.

Only good thing was the market was going nuts. Sold it in 4 hour above what we asked for. Much higher than we paid for. Bad news is new house is same size, yet much more expensive. Some how I feel like I've been screwed all the same. But moving to 55+ senior area with all lawn care done by HOA. Yes, don't have to deal with lawn nazis no longer. Yes, we have to pay for it like it or not. Still feel like I'm getting screwed.

Yupe. But there's that fun in collecting crap load of things. Like tobacco, pipes, lighters, stoves, flashlights, gas lamps..

I'll admit to understanding the tendency to collect a lot of things, but stoves?

Reminds me of a guy I saw on youtube cleaning up a place he had bought and the previous owner seemed to have collected toilets, there were about 20 of them lying around the property and only one bathroom on the property so no explanation why so many were needed.

Since we have a house in Florida, we decided to rent a condo for the time being and see what happens in the market. When the housing market inevitably comes down, we will look at buying a condo or town home that is essentially zero maintenance.

I grew up in apartments. "Progressive" first generation college students in S. Korea that my parents were, it was a "thing" to lives in apartments. That was a big change from multiple generation family that most Koreans lived in back then. My first house was when I got married. My wife's family is more traditional. Sometimes, I still think apartment or condo had a lot going for them.

Good God you’re right. Moving just sucks. We’re likely moving cross country later this summer and I’m dreading it all, especially packing up the hundred plus jars of tobacco that have accumulated during the last move.
Wow, moving in Arizona in the summer. Suffice to say, I think you win the "Moving Sucks" contest, hands down!
