Do they have any air purifying action besides emitting fragrance? Are they different from burning incense or using a plug-in air freshener? They are intriguing just as objects of art, I'll say. ... Just read ofafeatbher's link; claims catalytic action clears the air.

I've been making my own oil for years. I used to get my essential oils from CVS. Don't get fragrance oils, they won't work. I get some ready made lamp oils on line from Courtney's Candles. Huge selection and very fair prices. In fact their fragrance oils are sometimes too strong for me so I dilute them with 91% alcohol so they go even further.
I'd be afraid of too strong oils might make my eyes react. I just a liter of the Lavendar Fields. I intend to use it in my bed room. I've heard/read lavander is good for relaxaton and sleep.

Top 10 Benefits of Using Lampe Berger

One of the biggest benefits of Lampe Berger is the disinfecting action of heating isopropyl alcohol to purify the air by breaking down the impurities on a molecular level. It collects and destroys bacteria and foul odors, and increases the oxygen level. There are many benefits to using a Lampe Berger.
1. The Ozoalcool found in the essential oils generate a natural ozone in the air, removing bacteria and preventing illness.
2. Breaks down second-hand smoke, removing it from the air.
3. Kills dust mites.
4. Prevents mold growth.
5. Removes cooking and bathroom smells as well as pet odors from the air.
6. Releases negative ions, which strengthens the immune system.
7. Repels insects.
8. Removes airborne dust.
9. Can kill fleas.
10. Pet-friendly.

The last post reminded me of the man driving his $80k pickup, you know the kind with four doors and a useless 3 ‘ after the $1000 empty tool box, who cussed me yesterday for making a wrong turn. He was an angry man which seems to be the skill set required, but I would probably be colicky to for buying a useless truck shaped object. Anyway, what’s wrong with putting fragrance in the air and why would it anger someone so much that such a post elicits the need to whine?

Oh, and those pickup shaped vehicle drivers always have to now back into a parking space which always shows they should be driving a car no longer than a mini compact. Or, perhaps diagonal parking taking up 2.5 spaces is for making a quick getaway.

Fact is the only thing produced from burning Alcohol is CO2 and Water.

Burning straight alcohol accomplishes NOTHING of positive benefit except for suffocating yourself.

If you want a concentration of CO2 in your air you can go get a 100lb cylinder of the stuff from your local welding supplier and spray that in the air. Most of them will even deliver to your house and take the empty cylinders.

Or you could get the same effect in a much more economical manner by either putting a bag over your head, or tying a rope around your neck, or maybe waterboarding yourself for half an hour every day.

Apparently the air cleansing feature is an issue, but they are certainly interesting artifacts and collector's items, and if burning alcohol has a disinfectant effect, that would be a plus. Sounds like a fire hazard, but that's true of burning anything. Puff-puff.

I thought you had posted threads more recently than that.
Touché

I have a high tolerance for BS but every web page I can find trying to peddle the Lampe Berger is blatantly fraudulent, apart from being less harmful than scented candles.

If you were a fan of scented candles then the Lampe Berger looks fantastic, everything else surrounding it is borderline criminal or is outright criminal activity.

Interesting... Having no prior knowledge of these, I Googled to see what the mechanism that would "purify" the air. Supposedly it generates ozone. I've also read that ozone can be detrimental to health (like smoking isn't...), and the ozone concentrations that are safe to breath are unlikely to be effective in controlling indoor air pollution.

That said, it's probably cheaper than buying Glade plug-ins...

Or you could go this route:

Should a post some information regarding the bactericidal nature of essential oils ? If I do the first comment cannot be bull $hit. You’re going to have to provide some use of your brain.

So, if I get a nice fragrance and some residual benefits for $40, that a good thing.
Since I only have one blend of tobacco, I have all this money piling up . I have to spend it somewhere...lol!

If anyone has done a study counting bacterial growth in a Petri Dish with and without exposure to aromatic molecules at a saturation measured in PPM, that would be very interesting.
